I would just like to let you all know that the trolls have started again in this video with comments. The good news is I've banned them. And yeah I think they maybe feel a bit lonely.

I did want to respond to someone though because they asked me if my father was proud of

Just as proud as your mother was last night 😉
And on that bombshell goodnight and enjoy your stay !! 😂😂

I receive PIP, it was a long process and I was required to submit supporting evidence from my Doctors and other professionals, statements from my care provider gave an insight to my day to day problems. I fully understand that with any benefit, there are those who are out to fool the system, but the majority of people are genuine

For those ignorant people who cruelly demonise people on benefits. If they only knew how difficult it is to claim PIP and how the pressures of trying to claim it and understand how to fill out the forms when you have lifelong mental health problems that pushes you to the edge, they’d think otherwise. And if it wasn’t for mental health charities like scope and mind, and many more we would have nobody to fight our corner. All I can say is, any changes made to PIP need to be in consultation with advocates that work at mental health charities, so the proposed changes help disabled people and do not make them suffer. For instance, vouchers will not help somebody who suffers from severe anxiety and paranoid thought’s when on occasions they might be in a local supermarket but will be vulnerable to people staring at them or shouting abuse at them or attacking them because they see they are using vouchers to pay for essential items like food.

Give the politicians vouchers for the expenses they log up

Vouchers don't pay your extra heating bills, taxis etc.

My response was simple. Vouchers or a catalogue would not help me as my costs are in my energy bills and transport costs. I also claimed the level of administration required to create a voucher scheme would mean a massive increase in costs of both employees, printing, distributing the vouchers. Once a pip standing order is created the on costs are minimal being a yearly review of the amount. Vouchers would need ongoing support and could also be subject to theft and abuse

Vouchers will NOT work for PIP because the expenses are more complex paying for different things ….

They couldn't possibly give lower or higher rates solely based on the medical condition. PIP is not based on medical condition, but HOW the condition affects daily living. One person could be mildly affected, and another severely affected by the same thing, and their need for help be completely different

Diagnosed with brain cancer 7 years ago, lucky to still be here but 2 surgeries later with my right side of my body not working properly and have regular seizures because of it, leaves me unable to work and scared to leave my house most of the time, and reliant on pip to help pay for bills, daily life. The idea of vouchers sounds horrific.

Why do they want to make things harder for disabled people, of all the people in the world, some want to make our lives harder. I do not understand it

I’m on pip, 5 years ago I was earning over 65k a year, had a stroke although I was healthy, had to retire early at 52.
I get the absolute basic award even though my wife gave up work early after 39 years service in the NHS to look after me.
I need 24 hour support and I wouldn’t know what page of the catalogue my needs would cover. Zero help from the council of course despite the tens of thousands I have paid in taxes.
I tried to register with dignitas and unfortunately they declined me because my condition wasn’t considered life threatening but I would also need help to get to Switzerland which carry’s a potential 14 year jail sentence for my wife, although she refused to take me anyways, so I will have to come up with another option.
What a country 😞

Vouchers would be disastrous. So many services and support groups have closed, and more and more people rely on private help and care. That wouldn't be possible with a voucher system. People living on a very low budget also rely on secondhand clothing and items from jumble sales, boot fairs and charity stores, again, not possible on vouchers. People are barely surviving as it is. To take away even more cost cutting methods would be devastating.

If the narrative from governments weren't so anti disabled and hatred towards those in the poorest society, then it's safe to say that these debates and discussions would not be necessary. Until overwise, we fight on as best we can.

Also, maybe people in parliament can use vouchers instead of taxpayers' money for expense claims such as dodgy dave 50 quid breakfasts also why is the taxnpayer paying for mps second Morrgage so they can sell for millions after few years service must be the easiest 2+mill per mp going so many dodgy dave in parliament

i've never been on PIP sadly... years ago i was on DLA before it changed to PIP for a indefinate period, once this was reviewed amid the change it was pratically all taken from me, i've applied 4 times prior to these changes, with no sucess. the system is already complicated enough without the need for additional changes, with price rises on the cost of living and the introduction of vouchers if they did this would have a immediate if not damaging impact on the people that rely on this very support lifeline, i myself have to budget everything that goes out my account otherwise i get confused really quickly and it throws me of course (mainly if something goes out my account ive not accounted for) i have aspergers and austism. vouchers would just add a world of confusion in a already moderatly confused world. apoligies for mis spelled words. thank you for the video. :)
