Mistrial in Karen Read murder trial

Karen Read's murder trial has ended in a mistrial after a hung jury said deep divisions left them unable to reach a verdict. Read was accused in the 2022 killing of Boston police officer John O'Keefe, her boyfriend at the time. CBS News Boston's Penny Kmitt reports.

How about an independent investigator hired by the FBI stating the autopsy results do not support the finding of a car accident. Without all the other evidence this would have seriously influenced me. Congrats to those jurors who refused to convict.

The fact that there's enough uncertainty as to whether or not this dude was beaten and thrown into the snow by other cops that the jury couldn't come to a decision is amazing. lol

The expert ARCA accident reconstruction people said he was not hit by a suv. They were hired by the FBI independent of either side in this case. The state did not elicit their testimony. That did it for me as far as reasonable doubt.

a mistrial doesn't mean she is innocent nor does it mean she is guilty these Jurors were divided. July 22 2pm status hearing we will see if the State is going to retry the case.

It could have been a single juror that was the one who wanted a guilty verdict, seeing what I have of this trial this was a not guilty and the Boston police department should be ashamed of themselves and hopefully the feds are going to be indicting some corrupt police officers.

The prosecution had a weak case and wanted to convict her before they took the time to build a solid case. Frankly I think even if she is involved another man helped.

Unless there’s some new evidence, I think this will always end up a hung jury. There are some people who will never believe law enforcement would ever lie about anything so serious, no matter what evidence is presented. Even independent FBI investigators at the top of their field confirming the victims injuries weren’t consistent with being hit by a vehicle

It’s 2024 if it’s not straightforward then cops… who were the LAST TO SEE HIM … have blood on their hands. Cop is so gangster he admits to fighting the victim and victim is found dead at his house! But blame it on sweet loyal Karen, they obviously don’t respect her.

The families had 1 or 2 people on that jury. Look at the stupid detective. Thus, the case should have been thrown out as soon as those texts were read. It shows obvious bias in the investigation.
