The Ken Burns documentary on baseball was excellent. If your a fan of the game and it's history give it a watch this story and others like it are priceless.

WOW. I used to watch thats incredible and there was a blind guy, spent his whole life blind. He used to mow his lawn with a rope tied to a post and his mower. One day, he got hit my lightening, and he got his sight for the first time in his life. He's probably long passed away now but was a true story.

I've been a baseball fan since 1957 and I never heard that lightening strike story before. The Cleveland infielder they also mentioned, Ray Chapman, would in 1920 be beaned by Yankee pitcher, Carl Mays. Chapman died shortly thereafter. The only death caused by a baseball game.

Ironically Ray Chapman died from being struck by a pitch from Carl Mays at the Polo Grounds New York in August of 1920.

That bolt was probably for Chapman. He was killed at the plate the next year, 1920. The only player to ever be killed on the field.
