Tribute to our War Veterans & Fallen Soldiers. Soldiers of the Clouds is a beautiful song and I hope my video does this amazing song justice. This song, Soldiers of the Clouds, was written & sung by Doc Gill.

I was just a child when I first heard this song. My daddy took me to the traveling Vietnam memorial and if I remember correctly a man was passing out a cassette tape with this song. My dad is a marine veteran. I joined the army in 2001. My dad used to play this song on his guitar growing up. This song has sooo much meaning for our family. I wish it had more recognition

Doc (Rich) wrote this song for the veterans of the Vietnam War. The first time I heard it I knew my brother Rich (Doc) would never know how special this song would be to the veterans who would hear it. Some people reading this are too young to know that we weren’t always welcomed home by some of the public and government. Doc’s song written years after the war ended helped most of us deal with some of the mental torment of those days. What I heard in this song, told me that we were not alone and some people did really care. “Rich”… your song helped a “generation” of soldiers. When we came back home “at times” we felt alone. For those of us who heard it, your song told the story we wanted heard! You’re my hero. Thank you, brother.

When I hear this song I think of two great uncles. Uncles Joseph and Isidore fell in WW1.
There is no known grave for them. They are soldiers in the sky.

I'm a DJ and have an ROTC Winter Formal coming up this Saturday. The school sent me an mp3 of THIS version of this song (obviously pulled from this YouTube video) but obviously this is a live mic recording of this playing at an event somewhere. I would really like to find a better quality recording to better honor these kids. Obviously there are many people on here that are seeking this recording.
