I really enjoying being able to learn to do things the "old-fashioned" way, as so today, I thought I'd share the process of making butter :). I made a quick sandwich with honeycomb and lavender to take with me for a quiet afternoon at the river.
Butter-making process:
1. Add room-temperature cream to the butter churner
2. Churn until the solid butter separates from a white liquid (buttermilk)
3. Strain and squeeze as much of the liquid from the butter as possible
4. Rinse the butter thoroughly in clean water (you may need to replace the water a few times) (If the butter is too soft, you can add a few blocks of ice to the water which will help harden the butter and make it easier to manipulate)
5. Add salt/herbs of your choosing, mixing well with butter paddles
