If you are going to a PIP Assessment or a Tribunal please watch this.

Be aware that EVERYTHING about the location you are going to is specific so they can assess you. The door handles! The distance from the carpark to the meeting room.

In the past CCTV has been checked after individuals have left the assessment.

The moment you arrive you are being assessed.

HELPFUL PRODUCTS FOR DISABLED PEOPLE (I have ALL of these, I will only recommend what I know is good):

Perch chair - I could not find the right one on Amazon, it MUST have:
- arms with grips
- tilted seat so easy to stand from
- comfy seat
- adjustable height
Handle - I am testing this before I link it in case its crap

My name is Charlie and I am disabled. I live with chronic illness, I have a severe form of Psoriatic Arthritis and its crap! I am in pain all the time and always battling fatigue. BUT, I will not let it win. I love to learn and to laugh (even though it hurts my arthritic rib cage LOL).

Remember you are entitled for the assessment to be recorded AND a written transcript afterwards, just make sure you ask in advance. If you can take someone with you for support, I always attend with my daughter (I’m her Appointee) and I make notes, which they don’t like. AND I always ask for their area of medical expertise .. do NOT be intimidated! ✊🏼

My son has Asperger’s, had highest rate dla until they changed it to pip because of his age they couldn’t do a face to face because it’s when covid hit so they did it over the phone with him they decided he was having all his benefits taken away from him so we appealed and still got nothing this happened to both my sons and now the eldest won’t leave the house or communicate with anyone he doesn’t know the system is disgusting now my sons struggle and can’t get work because of there disability

My god, this is causing more stress, already suffering from Anxiety, im applying for pip had cancer and now suffer from bad bone pain, arthritis and Anxiety, have told them I can walk so what's the point in this ?

When you go to the assessment or tribunal, make sure you look like you would on your worse day. I was green when I went to my tribunal. I didn't have a clue how awful it was. I thought I'd make a supreme effort & had a little bit of make up on & wore my wig (as I dont have the energy to mess with my hair). I was trying to show a but of respect, as it was in a Court of Law but it was actually commented on negatively by the Judge. The panel assumed that I must be exagerating how exhausted I get because I had the energy to take a little care of myself. They didn't see how I had to completely rest up beforehand & how com0letely exhausted I was afterwards. That was a particularly good day for me too. So don't make any effort with your appearance.

they also straight-up lie. I was in a wheelchair, and the advisor wrote down I walked down the corridor opened the door and promptly sat down on a chair. inhumane how utterly heartless these people are for a couple quid commission.

I went in for one assessment with my mental health nurse and my anemia was so bad I collapsed in the waiting area and ended up in hospital that night having blood transfusions

The stress that the pip assessment caused me triggered me and worried my Gp about my mental health and I’ve been physically disabled since I was 13 I was 65 when I had my last assessment … his words were… I’m more worried about your mental state that I would be if your Cancer returned

I've just had a pip review by phone 😢she was arrogant and had no empathy. I was left feeling deflated and was refused pip. I'm going to go for a re assessment and if I have to a tribuble 😢😢

This was the situation back in 2016, I was shocked that every parking space had a camera. I had had a bad fall off the stairs a few days before so was covered in bruses. My PA and I were followed to the loo and out. I wasn't in my usual independent wheelchair as my PA couldn't push me in that. We were followed to the car park and watched how we managed the broken path ( which we didn't use) and how I was helped back into the car.

They have CCTV and monitors and they watch you from the minute you arrive to when you leave and the assessor doesn't necessarily have the training, all it is down to is for them to turn you down regardless!
