VOLTA - Blender Short

"VOLTA"

It's finally done, ever since finishing my earlier short film The Drink, I've started numerous projects that I never finished. I began going down the rabbit hole of loosing motivation. In that mix, VOLTA was born. VOLTA is a personal project I've been working on a little here and there for the past 5 months and as I've been focusing more on school and personal life I started thinking I'd never be done with it. I also felt the pressure to always do better and for it to be perfect so I ended up taking a long break from Blender, it was great and gave me a lot of time to think and improve. A couple of days ago I decided to finish the project.

My inspiration is of course Ash Thorp and Colorsponge and I wanted to continue what they started with their Evinetta short film but create something new. If you haven't looked at their work yet you definitely should.

The goal I had in the beginning of the project was the feeling of a constant flow of ideas and complexity, like you're missing out. I really have paid attention to every frame and put a lot of concentrated effort into this 1.5 minute long piece. Please enjoy it on max brightness and good audio.

Thanks to all my patreons who have been supporting me even though I haven't been active, it means the world :)There might be some VOLTA assets coming up there soon...

Excuse me I have to frame-by-frame this for the next 2 hours. So cool.

I've worked at numerous big vfx studios. This is better than the output of most of them. Amazing. Do well. You deserve it.

This was massively impressive and entertaining. You're not only a gifted 3D artist, but a really talented art director and editor. The snappy pacing of this was a nice surprise!

I find it increasingly hard to comprehend how you came up with and executed this work of overflowing creativity, and visual glory. Good job sir.

I love the quick cuts preventing you to see the car in its entirety. I'm sure it was used intentionally to make everything look more realistic by using strong lighting, film grain and water reflections

Сперва прочитал Волга. Подумал концепт новой Волги))

This was like a monster reveal in a movie. You never see the whole thing, just what it represents and what it leaves behind. Insane!

Okay, take it from an industry veteran - you are ridiculously talented. Given your age - you are going to be an all-time great if you keep at it. I don't think 3d is end of the line for you, you will be directing videos in no time.

I love how the quick cuts, the pacing, and the framing of the shots have an EMOTIONAL IMPACT: you cannot fully grasp what you see (like when a car goes by fast), adds mystery, intensity, anticipation, sense of wonder...

William, never ever stop creating. If I had 1/10th of your skills when I was 15, I’d be George Lucas at 25 and in all the halls of fame now at 35.

You don’t need school. What you are able to create put you in the 1% of the 1% of the 1%. It’s extremely rare and I have only seen it a few times during my entire life. So never ever stop creating.

What you need is a good mentor.

How did you get those fuzzy/cctv/dotty/grainy shots? Where could I find that effect?

Having long breaks is absolutely needed as an artist. To release pressure, do the point with yourself, and allow you to breathe. And can feel that in the whole quality of the short. Congrats boy it's a masterpiece !

I think everyone has already commented on the visual aspects which are stunning so I'd just like to give a big thumbs up for the sound design. Really great work on that too, adds so much to the drama without being to intrusive or overpowering. Bravo sir!

Looks inspired by 1997 Need For Speed 2SE - Ford GT90 Video... Amazing... Just re-watched it with that music as background... Wonderful...
