How To: Adjust Gates Carbon Belt Drive On An Electric Bike

Here we take a look at how to properly tension the Gates Carbon Drive used on our Babymaker II electric bike.

On this bike you need to loosen the axle mount bolts and loosen or tighten the tensioner bolt. You can use the Gates 'cricket tool' or use the Gates Carbon Drive smartphone app and pluck the belt like a guitar to measure proper tension.

Very helpful. I replaced my first bike tube, which happened to be on the back wheel. The bike is also a single speed carbon belt drive. I had everything down except determining the belt tension. Tried the app, which gave me inconsistent results. However, I suspected I tightened it too much after a test drive. Gonna try to loosen it a little and give it another shot. Thanks for the video!
