Water. Water. Water. Venus flytraps native land is in swampy conditions. The need lots and lots of water. I recommend peat moss and distilled water/rain water. Even pour some water in the bottom of the dish and it’ll suck it up from the bottom. Also, try to give it things without a shell, like flys or spiders. Easier to “digest”.

You still need to water them. The reason they didnt eat it is because they have hairs that they use to sense the pray. If the pray is already dead, the trap wont worry about digesting

It needs a dish with like an inch of distilled water under it and if you close too many traps at once you will kill it. It uses too much energy closes and opening. The bugs also need to be small enough to fit inside and close completely around it.

The bug needs to continually move inside one of the traps in order for the plant to digest it. Once it realizes the prey is not moving, itll open up and let it fall out.

Please water it I am a vft owner and they still need water it’s need to be rain or distilled water they only eat bugs for fertiliser because they should be planted in moss peat which should not have any fertiliser and little to no nutrient also please place it outside because they need lots of sunlight and energy for them to consume bugs and it’s important for it to go dormant during winter to save it’s energy hope this could help 😊

They’re never supposed to dry out. They should be sitting in a tray of water at all times.

The bug has to be alive for the plant to digest it. The traps seem big enough to eat a live pill bug, but you also need to water it with distilled water or have a tray with distilled water that you can put the plant in. I have two Venus flytraps that have survived for 2 years because of this routine. The plant only needs to be fed one bug a month to be satisfied

Its not a big deal, but these live in bogs so the soil needs to be constantly damp. They also need water that lacks nutrients so like distilled water i think, rain water, or water drom a reverse osmosis system. Hope this helps!

The traps will automatically open back up if there isn’t active movement within the trap this is so it won’t waste time and energy trying to digest something like dirt or a leg or something

It needs live bugs, such as flies, nats, etc. it also should need 2 ice cubes to the soil once every 2 weeks. 👍🏿
Also you should name it buggs. Like the bunny from loony toons.
