I use a Pentel Energel refill in my MB starwalker. Much smoother than the standard MB refill that it came with.

Go buy the Uni-Ball Signo and take out the cartridge and put it in the Mont Blanc, you will also get Indelible ink with the Uni-ball. You will also need to get a small screw to act as spacer between the cartridge and the housing of the pen. Works great and no need to buy ink/syringe and no mess. The Uniball Signo offer medium and Bold indelible ink and write really well. best part, $1 for each pen.

Actually it is a better idea to fill a montblanc with the superlative G2 refill.And cheaper too.

Why would you do this??? I've bought several mont blanc refills for my mont blanc pens and when its time to use it, they don't work! I got 3 mont blanc pens that never last me a month because the refill gets clogged or dried up. The Pilot G2 pen is superior in terms of longevity and usability...

You can modify the Pilot pen interior easily instead to take the refill.

My man, Mont Blanc do not particularly make "the best" stationery. Their cost is due to their perceived luxury. Yes, I am well aware that it is a good brand, but Pilot simply remains a better stationer.

I read some articles saying that rollerball refills are water based should be capped to prevent the ink dry, while you are using it on retractable pen with no cap.

Does this work the other way around? I love my MB 146 but HATE the boring inks. Also are there any broader ink refills that can be fashioned to fit in the rollerball? I love 1.4mm or 1.6 mm lines. Thanks.

Putting something like a Montblanc refill into a cheap pen like the G-2 doesn't make much sense to me - especially when said pens are easily lost/stolen at work/school/college etc. Putting it into a more valuable pen like Pilot Metropolitan/MR or a Lamy Al Star however, that makes more sense to me.

I hate to say it, but this video is backwards as hell. You buy a Montblanc because of the style of the pen, and sadly not for the refill. The refills are garbage compared to a typical Pilot G2 refill. The trick would be to find an easy way to fit the G2 refill into a Montblanc rollerball.

I hate it that big companies like Waterman, Montblanc, Parker, and so on have pretty crappy rollerballs based on vintage 1980s technology. The Pilot G2 is modern, far more reliable, can be used on all sorts of paper without bleeding or anything, water-resistant, and they last longer!

Go buy a $400 Montblanc pen and figure out how to easily insert a Pilot G2 - I'd love to buy a Montblanc roller to complement my Montblanc ballpoints and fountain pen - but it's because of the crappy refills I won't dare buy one. Maybe they'll eventually come out with a gel refill, but till then...

Why would one spend a fortune to replace a Pilot Gel Refill ? Buy a G2 gel refill and fix it .
