Hello friends! Today's video is showing you how I write in Hungarian as a beginner - I have a 7-step process of writing, looking up new words and grammar structures, and then a few rounds of editing and corrections. I've found this to be an efficient way for me to learn new phrases, solidify verb conjugations and practice writing as a skill in an enjoyable manner. I hope you enjoy seeing my process!

Honestly, all your videos are SO helpful and unpretentious and calming. Is that even allowed?

What's important to understand is that it's completely fine to make mistakes! The key is to just keep writing, it doesn't really matter about what. I put off writing in the languages that I'm learning for such a long time because I was afraid of making mistakes and because I didn't know all the vocabulary I needed, but once I started writing I realised how much fun it is and how fast I got better at it. From being barely able to write a diary entry, I'm now writing stories with over 120k words in my target language and it's honestly so much fun! And the best feeling is when you compare your old writings to your recent ones because you're gonna go "WOW, I improved THAT much!" (and you're gonna laugh at the old mistakes you made hehe).

Ahhh my perfectionism gets in the way in every aspect of language learning, including writing practice, because I want to get everything right on the first try, but honestly, your iterative process makes so much sense and seems like such an organic way to learn both vocab and grammar that it makes me feel better about any mistake I might make or any word I might not know.

I like your approach. I think many people (like me) are hesitant to write anything out of fear of making errors but this looks like a great way to learn from one's mistakes. Thanks for the very encouraging video!

Direkt írok most neked magyarul! El sem hiszed mennyire sokat segített nekem az amit most bemutattál a videóban. Pontosan ettől szenvedek csak fordítva (angolt tanulom). Nagyon köszönöm, főleg azt, hogy láttam a megosztott jegyzetben, hogy nem kell félnem a hibáktól!

Hi Lindie! As a native Hungarian speaker this video was really interesting. When I started learning English, my teacher always told me to start thinking like a native English speaker in writing too, which helped me a lot. (Not the easiest advice and it does not work for everyone but in some way it is surprisingly helpful.)
And I don't know is someone has already answered this for you, but I saw that you put the word 'körbevezet' in parentheses with a question mark. I wouldn't use this in that sentence and 'vezet' is perfectly fine. Maybe I would use the word 'autózik' or 'kocsikázik' (this is a casual use) which expresses it more that she has no purpose. I hope I could help! :)
További sok sikert a magyarhoz! <3

My brain is fried after watching this video, this seems so advanced, I do need to start writing in Spanish more, even though I've been learning for so long, I still feel like I don't know any Spanish words ahh!

Thank you for this video Lindie!! This is probably THE most helpful video that nobody's ever made. We are told so often to practice writing, but never how to practice? Honestly never thought about writing the words I didn't know in english, I would just look them up and it would take so long to write a single entry I gave up haha. Thank you thank you thank you, I'm getting a little diary and I'm going to start daily journaling in Korean.

This is exactly the way I'm learning Chinese and it has helped me a lot! I know people say when you're a beginner in Chinese you don't really have to worry about writing, 'cause it might be too difficult and maybe you won't need to actually write a character in your entire life, so the focus tends to be exclusively on the pronunciation and intonation, but I've discovered it is so much easier for me to remember the tone and pronunciation when I write the character down and keep repeating it. What I do is listen to easy conversations prerecorded and looking for the words I don't know, I write them down, and then I try to write them just by hearing them. If I came to something I don't really know and can't found an explanation, I ask my native friends for help or type my text up so I can get corrections from native speakers. So yeah, basically when it is all combined, I learn better.

Watching your video as a Hungarian and by seeing what you have done with Hungarian so far, first of all, my deepest gratitude for that but secondly, it gives me an enormous push in language learning too. I can not say "I can't" anymore, because if you could learn our language which is very hard in terms of grammar, I am able to learn anything I want too. What a motivation!!!! Lindie, I can't even find the words to express myself. You are amazing!!!!

Nagyon ügyesen fejlődsz!
Sok sok kitartást a továbbiakhoz!

Thank you, I really struggled to start writing in new target language. Not the first foreign language, but the first completely on my own without language classes and tutors. You are a blessing!

Szia Lindie, szerintem nagyon ügyes vagy, csak így tovább! Néhány apróbb nyelvtani hibát látok ugyan, de nagyon jól haladsz ❤ további sok sikert 😊

The process of writing as a beginner/low intermediate in a language has always been much more frustrating for me rather than motivating, so I find that I basically never do it. Because of this, my writing skills in Korean are definitely weaker than my speaking/reading/listening, but I can slowly improve my writing over time now that I'm an advanced speaker. If I had handwriting as pretty as Lindie's seems to be in every language, maybe I would feel more motivated to write more often haha.

I usually don't comment on anything, but I came back to this video because thanks to this video I got to know the website Journaly, and it actually works!!! I was skeptical at first, cause usually other websites I used weren't made for longer texts, but within a few hours someone helped me with a little text I've written in German, and I'm sooo happy, cause writing is the skill I struggle the most with most languages, so this is literally gona save me okay

Thank you sooo much for this. I've studied Spanish and Mandarin for a while, and I realize that I really do need to journal to practice writing a lot more.

What has clearly prevented me from progressing is my unwillingness to write in Japanese. Not even that I don't want to but the strokes (order, shapes, quantity) are daunting + the perspective of never having a Japanese handwriting as nice as my Roman handwriting (French/English/Spanish) + the time investment I foresee for a mediocre result are just discouraging.
Yet I know that reading (no issues there) and writing for me make languages stick better 🥲.
In a nutshell: I'm stuck 🥺

honestly sometimes i wonder what we, as language learners, would do without your videos
thank you for your hard work~~

This looks really clever, I love it! I've been shying away from keeping up a journal for my Spanish because I honestly didn't know how to go about it in an effective way. I'll definitely try this. Thanks for sharing!
