My veterinarian office stopped accepting checks about 10 years ago. I rarely write checks any more, most of my bills are paid via phone or internet. I noticed in recent years my bank charges more for checks and they give you a fewer amount.

When I lived in Switzerland 15 years ago they had already gotten rid of checks. All payments were EFT and debit card.
It's about time for the US to catch up.

Getting rid of all checks will likely force many elderly to carry cash (which is a greater security risk to them).

Well hey, if "everybody's doing it", convenient Fed Now accounts and digital payments MUST be the way to go!!! While this video talks about check payments no longer being accepted by some stores, next thing we know major retailers will be refusing something no one would be able to steal your personal information from... cash.

I usually pay my dentist/doctors with credit card. Now they are starting to charge a fee for that. Okay then, check for you.

There’s just no zero cost either peer to peer payments system.

I own a business.

A lot of our transactions carry over $200 in credit card fees it’s absolutely stupid.

So if only a few people like and eat kale, we should stop growing all kale? Retailors can go ahead and pay the extra 3% when I use me credit account if they wish, but the check is a written receipt that I get back for important purchases. Where do you get the "all your financial information is on a check" nonsense? It only identifies my bank, that account number and that check number. My bank doesn't have all my financial information, or even much of it, so how could that possibly be true? If somebody fakes a check, whoever accepts it is responsible and there should be a paper (computer) trail leading to the money. It is 15th century technology and still works with or without computers. A hundred years from now there will still be checks and people willing to accept them.

After having our bank accounts hacked it took months to get the mess cleaned up. Our accounts are now ONLY accessible by paper checks. No electronic access or debit is allowed on our accounts.

Interesting how this comes while CapitalOne is working on becaming a giant monopoly. Finally every small business can be ripped off 100% of the time. But going broke is so popular. 🤣

We spell it cheques as opposed to checks as in "check tyres"

I'm 43. I've written one check in my whole life. Because I don't live in a stone age country.
