We have been considering Chapter 10 of the Confession which takes up the crucial subject “of effectual calling.” We have looked at the biblical doctrine of effectual calling from its first two paragraphs. Now we come to the application of this to the thorny subject of infants dying in infancy and the heathen without the gospel.

Confessing the Faith is a theological and devotional walk through the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith with host Sam Waldron, Pastor of Grace Reformed Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY and President of Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary.

This controversy comes from Calvinist Confessions "God decrees all things, whatsoever comes to pass" followed by a contradiction to try & get God off the hook for causing everything/everyone's thoughts & actions...which includes decreeing us to sin.

His very last statement I’ll need to think on and I’m not sure I agree with it

Christ died to save sinners. Infants and the mentally incompetent never sinned (no knowledge of the law), therefore they go immediately to the Father upon death.

Every single child has an angel looking over their life from heaven. Jesus doesn't say just the elect children do.

Matthew 18:10 KJV
Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
