Plato, a philosopher from more than two thousand years ago, is where our story starts. around the two books "Timaeus" and "Critias," which he wrote around 360 BC, he depicted an ancient civilization that thrived on the island of Atlantis 9,000 years before his own time. Beyond what is now known as the Strait of Gibraltar, or "beyond the Pillars of Hercules," was where Atlantis was supposedly situated.

Atlantis, according to Plato, was an island larger than both Asia and Libya put together, with a settlement built in the shape of concentric rings of sea and land. A palace and a temple to the sea god Poseidon were located on the middle island. Atlantis was a culture that balanced harmony with nature and technological advancement while also being advanced in science, art, and politics.

However, Plato claimed that this equilibrium was only fleeting. The locals developed greed and moral decay, incurring the wrath of the gods. Atlantis was said to have disappeared, swallowed by the sea, leaving no trace, in a single day and night of terrible earthquakes and floods.

Since Plato's description was so detailed, it has sparked disputes regarding whether he fabricated Atlantis as a fantastical fiction or simply recorded an oral history that had been passed down through the generations. Both believers and skeptics have been intrigued by the search for the lost city, giving rise to theories that are as fascinating as the mythology itself.

One of the first people to take the hunt for Atlantis seriously was a politician-turned-pseudoscientist by the name of Ignatius Donnelly in the late 19th century. He argued that Atlantis, a major center of culture and knowledge from which all other civilizations emerged, was the source of all known ancient civilizations.

The world of the earliest astronauts is where we start. According to writers like Erich von Däniken, superior knowledge, and technology were transmitted by extraterrestrial visitors to the world's ancient civilizations, including the fabled Atlantis. They saw the technological superiority ascribed to Atlantis as possibly the outcome of such extraterrestrial encounters, creating an image of a past unrelated to conventional historical narratives.

We now reach the writings of Edgar Cayce, who made several fascinating claims about Atlantis. Cayce said that the Atlanteans had created advanced technology, including flying machines and energy crystals. He even asserted that Atlantis' ruins will appear close to the Bermuda Triangle, offering a mysterious story that has mesmerized many.
