Was Atlantis a real place or merely a literary device – a warning against national pride and hubris?

Plato was not an author who wrote fiction, but he would have conveyed his knowledge in parables, having being taught by Socrates. Love this.

Atlantis was located where the " Eye of the Sahara " or Richat Structure located. It fits all the details that Plato describes. It was an island off the west coast of Africa. Plato said it had elephants and giraffes. The color of the stones in that region matches his description. Plato said that in the center of the island that poisidon provided a source of fresh water. The fresh water source is there. Plato said you could not get to Atlantis anymore because it was impassable. So it didn't not sink. It was swept away by water from the inland sea of the Sahara. The Sahara sea literally pushed everything buildings and all into the Atlantic Ocean when it drained into the ocean. The sand from the Sahara sea filled in the water between the island and the African coast creating a new coastline. This created a scenario where the area was probably was covered in a few feet of muddy waters for maybe centuries. It was a impassable muddy mess. You couldn't sail a ship in that mess. You can't swim in mud. Plus, there is an old Greek map that shows the location of Atlantis. The map shows the eye of the Sahara is the spot. The map was draw up by the greek father of history, Herodotus. Herodotus map shows Atlantis as an island beyond the pillars of hercules off the west coast of Africa. However, Africa's coastline was different than today because there was water between the island of Atlantis and africa. The water and mud eventually dried up and the coastline became what it is today.

The Richat Structure, is a prominent circular feature in the Sahara's Adrar Plateau, near Ouadane, west–central Mauritania,  Northwest Africa.

Sahara was home to some of largest sea creatures, study finds. The sea was 50 metres deep and once covered 3, 000sq km of what is now the world's biggest sand desert.

That's why you find evidence inland from the coast for miles that area was underwater.

12, 000 years ago the Sahara was not a desert. The Sahara was not even a a desert 8, 000 years ago. Atlantis disappeared around 12, 000 years ago around 10, 000 BC.

Topography of the area matches all descriptions. The mountains, plateu, etc, all match. Plus, Plato gave the exact dimension of the rings of Atlantis. The Richat Structure dimensions match up perfectly.

Plus, certain minerals that Atlantis was known for are found there also.

When look at a view of the Richat Structure from space you can actually still see the impression of the tons of forceful water had on the land. The region looks blasted, rubbed, and scarred by water. It shows the direction the water flowed when it came thru and over.

As a person who loves history, I want to say that Edgar Cayce readings gives a lot of answers. There was old civilisations long before us, according to Bible, vedas, hopi, mayan codex, we are the fifth civilization. And I strongly belive in this.

North pole 10k tears ago used to be around Greenland, and 100k years ago - near Alaska. I wouldn't discard Eye of Sahara only based on the cardinal directions we have today.

This went way deeper than I thought it would. I never knew the theories of extraterrestrials, hybrids, extinction events and the conscious universe all came from Plato!

So what if Atlantis wasn't a single city? What if it was a description of a civilization with many cities? Perhaps those cities were built in a common configuration because it made sense to do so. Alternating rings of land and water instead of outer and inner castle walls, might afford great defensive capability. Sea rings, if done correctly, might also be a great source of food and recreation. They certainly seem big enough. If done correctly it could be a great way to dispose of waste, human or otherwise. Desalinization (far enough away from the waste water ducts) could have provided drinking water during dry times. I wonder what the salinity of the Spanish site is? Anyway.... Graham Hancock says we're a species with amnesia. I think he is right. I also think there are certain power structures that want to make sure we never wake up. That's what keeps me awake at night, among other things.

This is by far one of the best documentaries regarding Atlantis that I have ever seen
