In project management, task links represent the dependencies between various tasks within a project. These dependencies dictate the order in which tasks need to be completed and are critical for developing a realistic project schedule. The four primary types of task links are Start to Start (SS), Finish to Start (FS), Finish to Finish (FF), and Start to Finish (SF). SS indicates that a task cannot start until a preceding task also starts. FS is the most common link, signifying that a task cannot start until the previous one finishes. FF means a task cannot finish until another task finishes, and SF, the least common, indicates that a task cannot finish until another task starts. Lead and lag times are adjustments made to these links to allow for more flexibility. Lead time allows a task to start earlier than its predecessor finishes, effectively overlapping tasks, while lag time introduces a delay between tasks. Split tasks refer to breaking a task into segments, allowing other tasks to occur during the interruption. This can be useful when resources are needed elsewhere or when waiting for a particular event or decision before the task can proceed. Understanding and effectively applying these concepts is crucial for successful project management and timely project completion. #msproject #microsoftproject
