Yes. Even if every other person in the world doesn't care, I do, and will just go somewhere else at that point.

I don't think this is just a youtube problem. This might just be the start of the internet falling apart. Any somewhat 'open' platform is susceptible to being flooded with ai noise and it doesn't really look like we'll be able to automatically identify it and so far I really don't see a solution to the problem that doesn't involve gatekept communities, moving things back to meat space or a combination of those two. There might be some trade of with building a web of trust, but even then it's trading resilience to ai corruption for (distributed) gate keeping.

It honestly feels like we are heading towards a dark age of technology in which ai noise drowns out humanity.

I immediately select "Do Not Recommend Channel" when I suspect the script/voice/imagery is AI generated. If I want AI created crap, I'll make it myself.

The average youtube user consumes mostly slop on youtube. Go incognito some time and look at what's getting views. It's all garbage. Some of the biggest channels are just low effort trash. I'm not surprised at all by the notion that the future is more AI. AI is an incredibly efficient way to make slop.

That said, quality content like Low Level Learning, will always be appreciated by a core dedicated audience

i firmly believe there's a maximum slop to meaningful content ratio that the average person is willing to accept. they're trying to shove us into Plato's cave and make us accept the dancing shadows as our new friends and it's not going to work

The only time I can accept AI is for voiced tutorials. I still cringe when I hear it, but I respect wanting to keep your privacy.

What google should be worried about is that ai will be better at gaming the algorithm, pushing meat-made content down in the recommendations. Then the creators leave.

As someone who spends most of my learning and recreation time on YouTube, I'm noticing too many channels now that are producing fully AI-produced videos, from the voice over to the thumbnail. It feels unnatural and cheap.

As a creator it is terrifying. But as a user, 90% of them won't care! They just need information they are looking for. That's my personal observation.

Almost everything I watch on utube (I don't have or want cable or satellite) is stuff. I really don't want my content to be AI generated.
