Quentin Tarantino delivered a fiery response to a journalist who quizzed about his portrayal of women in his films. When asked by a journalist from The New York Times why Margot Robbie - who plays Sharon Tate in his new movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - wasn't given many lines, the director, 56, quipped back: 'I just reject your hypotheses'. Speaking at the photocall for the critically lauded flick at the press conference during Cannes Film Festival, the visionary's reaction to the question prompted Margot, 28, to note that 'a lot could be adequately done without speaking.'

Perhaps one of the dumbest questions ever asked of a writer, director, producer. Tarantino showed amazing control in his calm answer. (not "fiery")

Sir Anthony Hopkins only had 10 pages of dialogue in "Silence of the Lambs, " and he went on to win the oscar for Best Actor. Amount of dialogue does not a great performance make.

The correct title should be "Tarantino abstained from feeding a troll."

He didn't respond with many lines. Point made.

Is this the state of modern journalism?

Glad he kept his calm, they are purposely asking him these questions to see if he bites . Great director

We all know it would turn into to a whole “women should be equal” thing.

"fiery response"? "shuts down reporter"? This isnt your personal IG. Journalism is dead.

Tarantino is gender neutral when it comes to shutting butts down .

She can ask whatever she wants as long as she's willing to receive whatever answer he wants to respond with. Simple.

I liked how the reportress accidentally referred to Robbie as an "actress" before politically correcting herself.

Jackie Brown? Kill Bill? Does the person asking this stupid question know anything about his film career? The implication behind her question is absurd.

I don't know why you would even imply a director like Tarantino was trying to minimize women in film. A bit ludicrous, but sadly that is becoming all too common..

He should have said that the character had very few lines when he wrote the script. It doesn't matter who ends up playing the character.

I also laughed at that girl from fast and furious who said they need more female writers

We need more people like Quentin - a man who has been building careers of women and minorities for decades in cinema through roles he creates - to stand up to this nonsense.

Next she would have asked about the gender pay gap and if she was paid the same as the male actors lol

How could one in any way consider that response “fiery”..? 😕

I don't agree with the reporter asking the question on that stage, but after seeing the movie, one can't deny that Margot Robbie had very little to do in the film. Her character was essentially pointless, especially relative to how much she was advertised

What a dumb question? That’s the definition of reaching.
