WHO CONTROLS THE PAST controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.

82% of Republicans voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Less than 70% of Democrats voted for it. So I wouldn't say LBJ and the Dems passed it. How has this just been ignored?

Yup we are leaving out some key points to lean left a bit

Let us not leave out...

This seems to ignore the fact that the Dems in the north still supported the southern Dems even in regards to slavery.

Something about this seems fishy. I sense a left leaning slant to this video.

2:33 - Jackson was first elected in 1828, then reelected in 1832. John Quincy Adams defeated him in 1824.

The Khan Academy desperately needs an education about history.

Come on, you are leaving out all the juicy details. I used to think you guys tried to do the right thing. Do the right thing, tell the truth, all of it. We are entitled to have all the information to make a choice. Omission, by choice is just as evil as the detail you omit. You have said your peace, now you will be bound to it, and all it's lies. There is a circle for liars, and you will be there, enjoy your eternity.

How many Democrats voted for the 14th? Didn't they fill-o-buster it?

So I’m a little confused. You mentioned that you thought the solid south switch to the republican party. Because the Democrat party had gone to far on the civil rights issues. I’d like you to explain to me how you came to this conclusion knowing that 80% of the Republicans supported the civil rights issues. Versus only 70% of the Democrats supporting the civil rights issues at that time.

Your reason for why the southern democrats switched parties sounds like conjecture and not based on historical fact.

If ever there was a propaganda peace, this video is one of those.
This was a sick twisted version of what really happened, and almost every reason why things happened you missed the mark!

This history is filled with flaws. The Democratic party takes credit for passing Civil Rights and Women's Voting laws, but they only passed them when it was clear that they couldn't stop it from passing. Also, there was no mass switching of parties. Those who say that never ever provide a list of names.

Not entirely factual re: "the big switch". Most southern Dems shifted for Reagan for financial reasons and NOT because of the civil rights act (which had more Rep than Dem support.)
