Wondering what it takes to learn to ride an electric unicycle? Most people can learn, but it is like picking up a new skill similar to learning how to ride a bike. You can do it by yourself, and you just need a little practice.

BEST learning video I've seen so far. I just started today (55 year old guy) and was able to actually ride consistently. After stopping and reviewing some vids, this one applies best to me. I think the most valuable part was the portion where you did the one foot for extended distances with light touchdowns and emphasizing the body positions.

It's been a week since receiving my very first solo wheel and I'm sure that I would still be spilling out and letting the wheel get away from me, if not for this tutorial. On my first day, within hours I was riding without incident. By the end of the day I was riding with complete confidence. Great Job!

Hey you guys sold me a V8F AND i love it. I'm 74 so i limit the speed to 15 and it moves me good. Today i was riding a good distance in the snow. Me and the wheel did great, kinda cold for the old guy but not horrible 17deg. I think.

Other than getting really dizzy spinning in a circle, your video has been extremely helpful for me as a first timer! This is definitely the best instruction out there. Thank you for making it!

This is about the best method i’ve seen for learning to ride euc. Have been teaching riders for approx 4+ yrs and this is close to how we have people up ar going usually in 20 to 30 minutes. All the older vids on learning are outdated.
Thanks for posting

Good tips. Especially when you talk about posture. I am still in beginner mode. At age 58, I am been trying for an hour a day for about a week. I am really good at making a circle, but still need to work on foot control. I have to be more careful than most, so yea I have all the safety gear. Admittedly I look a little nerdy, but my safety is more important than trying to look glamorous. I can taste victory coming and I can't wait.

I may never scrape up the nerve to try one, but your instruction sure does make me feel that I could learn if I followed your lead. Good job.

Just wanted to come back here and say that this video was an immense help when I was learning to ride. I've been riding since May and am very comfortable now, but those first forrays are indeed difficult. Using the tips in this video I was able to ride around my block in a matter of hours instead of days. Thanks again

As a day two rider, this is one of the more interesting tutorials I've seen. Will try the techniques tomorrow.

I had someone whizz past me on this while on their phone and a latte in the other hand. It was hilarious but somehow really cool.

I found that just relaxing and NOT looking at the ground right in front of your wheel or staring at the cycle was the biggest help. I learned that from many seasons as a ski instructor. And trying to go slow to avoid an accident is the worst thing, like a motorcycle or 2 wheel bike that is one of the hardest things to do.

Thanks, it took me like 30 minutes to start riding the wheel after I watched this video. Very useful

Excellent pedagogy - speaking as a teacher. You also inspire confidence and a sense of logical progression in each step of learning. I've owned 50 motorcycles and maybe that many mountain bikes. Time to move on to an EUC, and avoid killing myself in doing so.

Awesome video of great help, picked up a wheel today and worked out my first ride within 2 minutes. Now need more practice for fine tuning especially the turning. Thanks heaps for sharing.

finally a really instructive video! i have an airwheel mars rover q5. i barely used it 5-6 times in the past 3 years, simply because there wasn't a proper tutorial. million thanks for this tutorial. i will now attempt again.

For some riders (including me), it is easier to use support to mount and launch to learn to ride first (yaw and tilt steer) before trying to free mount. Since I learned to ride first, I didn't (and still don't) one foot glide, just step and hop on like a skateboard. However, based on this and other videos, a lot of new riders do just fine with the one foot drills and step and tap method, although it seems like it would be more tiring. Another issue is for an experienced motorcycle rider (I started back in 1966, but it wasn't till 1968 that I was properly counter-steering, I'm 70 years old), where you learn that looking isn't going to turn a motorcycle, only (counter) steering inputs. To prepare for lane changes, I"m looking to the side and back while going straight, and also looking to the side for cross traffic at intersections. One of my early goals when learning to ride my V8F was to be able to move my arms and|or look around without upsetting balance or changing direction.

The turning tip was the best piece of advice. It allowed me to totally ignore the wall grabbing part and move straight onto balance. Still haven't figured out how to stop comfortably yet.
