How do I figure out where is the correct pitch without "fishing"? Everybody teaches to "just put your fingers to correct positions like a hammer", but why would I play scales if I could do that? :)

Always practice inside a closed big empty roo no furniture no curtains no fans running. Then the accustics is good you can hear every note and adjust the pitch. Resonance is used to tune the violin. Practicing outside in the open is not ideal because wind breeze an distort sound waves.
