Union Cabinet Expands Ayushman Bharat to Cover All Senior Citizens Aged 70 and Above

Ayushman Bharat For 70 Years Old: The Union Cabinet has approved the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) to provide health coverage for all senior citizens aged 70 and above, regardless of income. Announcing the decision, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the rollout would begin soon. Currently, the scheme is income-based and offers Rs 5 lakh annual coverage to eligible families, focusing on the bottom 40% of the population. The new expansion will extend this benefit to all senior citizens across the country.

This is complete bogus for Indian senior citizen, Life expectancy for male is around 67 and female life expectancy is around 69.
And also government consider you senior citizen if your age is 60 year. But why they choose 70+ because they only want to show that they are giving something but actually not.

Is there any specification that only Government Hospital expenses would be reimbursed ?
Or is it that anyone needing medical attention can get admitted to any hospital, even private, and avail reimbursement upto 5 lakhs.

Appreciate this efforts from government. It will be really a good scheme if executed well. But terms and condition should not be complex and all treatment & diagnostics should get covered.

Unfortunately after 70 years how many seniors would be able to reach independently in the hospital? Need to improve over all sevices with proactiveness in the services and if tretment crosses 5 lakhs then where one will get support so need to have a provision of monthly financial support to them for pre and post medical treatment
