This is some great information. Especially when you want a smooth solid surface for negative space. Too often do you find lumpy textured base paint from it drying thicker. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with us.

Thanks for this, I also didn’t know my base coat should be thinner! I did a wave today and now I realise that my paint was way too thick and I struggled to get the wave to form. I am a Scrooge with the Ewatrol that I have to use - because of the cost, it’s actually more expensive than the paint! 👍 ❤️ 🇬🇧

Knew base coat should be thinner but when used (what I now feel was to much water) it broke up the acrylic’s ability to bind & just cracked? Great tip about it sliding off a tile as use a consistency chart & count 7 seconds to see how thick or thin paint is as when just eyeball it was so off but it looked like “warm honey”! Ty!!

Should the base coat be thinner than the pour paint which is placed on top of the base or should the base and the pour paint be of the same consistency--that part of dutch pour is very confusing to me.

If you use semi gloss house paint for the base coat for acrylic pour, what do you use as a binder for the semi gloss??

Hi there. Is the Payne s gray a house paint? I’m trying to get a black base coat using my sateen house paint. I added black acrylic paint to it and I can only get to gray. I hope this isn’t a stupid question 😂❤
