Vitamin C is NOT a treatment for post-acne marks

I see a lot of my acne patients reaching for vitamin C in an attempt to improve their skin after a breakout.

This is not an effective approach - it’s best reserved for tackling and preventing the signs of sun damage instead. In fact, I’d actively avoid it in anyone experiencing an acne flare.

Instead, seek out multitasking ingredients that work on post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation at the same time as reducing the risk of breakouts in the first place. I love the azelaic acid/retinoid double whammy for this reason - it tackles acne in multiple ways and is the secret to getting ahead of your breakouts, rather than reacting to them! ✨

I use vitamin C in the AM and adapalene in the PM. I really notice the difference vitamin C makes in my PIH.
