I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

I just wanna say, seeing her teach you, is amazing. The way she goes about describing the movements and how detailed she describes everything shes doing and where things are and whats facing what way, etc, theres no better person to teach the blind, than the blind! This is fascinating. It would be so cool for her to do like a blind cooking class for kids who are blind! What an amazing thing to be able to learn by someone who experiences life as YOU do!

You did such a great job pushing through your fear and doing it anyway! I could tell you were uncomfortable, but the moments of joy once you completed a step were so heartwarming to see!

Love seeing how she not only taught you, but empowered you. Also noticed she’s one of the most descriptive guests you’ve had on this series!

Molly, you did great in the kitchen! As a sighted person who has taught children to get more comfortable in the kitchen, I could see that you had limited awareness of the size of your cooking utensils and pots and pans because you had limited contact with them prior to cooking. I would suggest that you spend time handling them in a way that allows you to get the feel of the shape and size while they are clean and cold, before you cook with them. Perhaps hug your skillet to your body, and wrap your arms around the cooking part of the pan. Put a spatula in your left hand and feel the cooking surface (the flat portion of the pan interior) with your right hand so you can get a sense for the body movements that will be too much, vs. just enough, vs. too small. Maybe try some dried pasta and rice to practice manipulating things in a cold pan to learn the size and shape and movements before you do hot things. There are knives that have a plastic sleeve that fits pretty close to the blade size. You could handle such a knife pretty safely to get familiar with the size and shape of if without fear of injury. What are the other ways you get physically familiar with other things? Get help from the sighted people in your life (your boyfriend, your parents, etc) to learn what is the right pan for cooking the amount of eggs you would normally make, which is the right skillet for frying up the ingredients in a dish you would regularly eat. Then I would also suggest learning a few repeatable recipes that you really like so that it's not a completely new experience every time you cook, but get good at them one at a time. I think you did great! I hope some of this might help you feel less fearful of the mess and injury. You have learned so well how to grade your touch to apply makeup tastefully that I'm sure you could do the same in the kitchen with more physical familiarity with your tools.

I remember seeing Christine on MasterChef when I was a kid! It was one of the only seasons I actually watched with my parents because I just thought she was so cool. Prior to that I had no idea that blind/visually impaired people could cook because of the dangers in the kitchen. It's so awesome now to see her teaching someone else

Something else I know is outside your comfort zone but might be worth trying is dancing.

Molly, I’m so proud of you for facing your cooking fears. I remember that colab you did with Hello Fresh and it was so hard to see how upset you were. I’m so glad you had a good time and got your redemption.

Someone else commented it would be fun for Molly to try dancing. I am a professional pole dancer/teacher and I think Molly would love it! It’s really something you feel- not see. Also it’s nice because you’re almost always touching the pole, so everything is in the same spot because the pole is stationary!

Seeing Molly learn to cook visually impaired and learning from another visually impaired is so heartwarming and inspiring. I'm fully paired and still can't cook like I want to. And you guys are doing it literally blind! How awesome!

As a (differently) disabled person, I would love to teach other disabled folks how to cook! You did great, Molly!

You two are making me even more motivated to start my autistic service center and offer classes in life skills like cooking, bill paying and budgeting, food safety, technology etc.
Ty for being who you both are, so different from one another and both so incredibly kind, generous, loving, and amazing ❤

Please film yourself trying to make the eggs. Cooking is the thing that's scared me the most about trying to be independent with my visual impairment and I feel like seeing how you go about cooking would be a great help as well as motivation.

Molly wanting to crack the egg one handed while me, a sighted person, never dares to crack an egg one handed for fear of getting shells in 🤣

Molly, I was literally thinking about how you have now added cooking scrambled eggs to your repertoire. I definitely think you should try scrambled eggs again at home with your own kitchen supplies and stove. You were a natural at cracking and stirring the eggs.
