This is such a well-made video! I didn't know any of this information -- other than queen ants are larger and that they have wings (but only for some of the time, I just learned!) -- but now it all feels so natural and intuitive. Thank you! Great explanations and presentation!

I remember seeing a queen ant in 2nd grade and I knew it was because my science teacher (my teacher) identified it and not just that but every ant was protecting it from any threats

Guys, also don't forget to visit www.alexanderwild.com for some amazing ant photographs. You can purchase high quality prints and post them in nice frames on your wall! :)

I stumbled here by accident, but you've seriously spiked my interest. I didn't think I had any sort of interest in ants at. all, but your videos are great! way to engage your audience. 😊😊😊

I really want to make an ant colony but my mum really disapproves!
I'm so mad/sad...why can't she accept the fact that even though they are ants and they think they are stupid useless ants..they are actually one of the best pets!

Great video! I love the quizzes with comparisons/visuals. Very educational. I feel like I actually learned something and had fun doing it! Focusing on one topic at a time like this in a fairly brief video enables me to retain the info. Too much info at once can sometimes be overwhelming and I am less likely to remember everything. I look forward to more of your videos. On a sad note, the other day I accidentally rolled over a Queen ant with wings on my roller skates. I saw the poor thing but couldn't stop on time. 😬

Question: What species of ants did you guys catch this nuptial flight season? What species are you still hoping to catch? I'm curious! Let us know about your prized catches!

Excellent video, my 6yo daughter randomly starting asking me all about Queen ants, we have watched this video together this morning and both learnt a lot - brilliant 👌

I know absolutely nothing about ants, and have never batted an eye at them, but now I’m going to go into a rabbit hole about ants thanks to this video.

This video was extraordinarily helpful! I stumbled across it and several
others while researching finding ants for an ant farm for my little guy
(he's 7). I had one as a kid and LOVED it. But I didn't want to go
digging up ants (like my dad and I did) and potentially killing a
colony.
SO...
I watched your videos on how to identify a queen,
and what to do with her once you've found her, and THAT VERY EVENING, my
husband spots this ENORMOUS ant strolling across the living room. I
scooped her up, and after 2 pairs of reading glasses and a magnifying
glass, I was able to see her wing scars.
I was delighted!
She is currently residing in a small food container in a desk drawer.
I've
had her for about 10 days now, and I THINK she may have laid eggs.
there's a little creamy colored cluster of something looks sort of star
shaped, but may be several things together. (Looks similar to what the ant is moving at about 1:30 in this video)
Thank you for this very thorough guide to identifying Queens.
I am super excited to be able to see this project come alive (literally).

Almost time to collect again! Tropical ant queens are the bomb too though. I saw a nice bullet ant gyne the other day. Always impressive.
