Me: *following the recipe*
Josh: "...pop it in the fridge overnight."
Me: I guess I'll have sadness for dinner, tonight.

I’ll never make my own bread but I sure do watch all of papas videos as if I do 😂

one of my fav but cheaper eps so far (trying to get more into bread making). idea for another series: as many different cheap meals you can make with the same ingredients. that way we’re not fighting with leftovers.

I bought that same Lodge dual pan Dutch oven thingy awhile back after watching your sourdough vid with Babish. Highly recommend it!! It does an amazing job with bread, as well as giving you 2 different cast iron pans with myriad uses. Just so incredibly versatile.

I think some of us need to see a “But Cheaper: Extreme Edition” special episode. Straight up struggle meals. I’m honestly curious to see what Josh can pull off for less than a dollar per serving.

Those of you who are intimidated by the idea of having a huge roast left over just for one or two steak sandwiches... Expand this idea to include leftovers and maybe it'll make more sense.

You have some bougie bread and leftovers from Sunday dinner. All you have to do is sauté some veg, melt a little cheese... you've got a nice dinner for Monday night in 30 minutes or less. The beauty of sandwiches is that they are flexible and adjustable.

Looks good PAPA. Personally though, I think horseradish is married to the best steak sandwiches. I might try this with a horseradish aioli.

I love how that bread is basically my sourdough that I spend a week on making a starter for and then a day baking and you made it overnight 😭 I still love my sourdough starter but dang

Meat cutter here, ever had a teres major? Incredibly affordable little budget cut, with similar tenderness to a tenderloin. Can be sliced thin for something like this or for a mini wellington. Average size is around 10oz or so, but they can get up to about a pound.

Thank you for helping us in these difficult times, Joshua ... I love that bread recipe and will be making it (and this entire recipe) very soon.

I know we're here for the sandwich, but I really appreciate the super-quick bread recipe here. I've been making sourdough using Josh's recipe (starter and bread), and this recipe is a breeze in comparison. Thanks for another great video, Josh!

A brined Bottom Round roast also works great at a decent price, for the steak part. We use it in our household for steak sandwiches, or to smoke and serve with chimichurri.

If you cant find the roast its often called a blade roast or top blade roast. An alternative is a flatiron steak which is basically the blade roast split and tendon removed.

Looks would be cool (and kinda funny) is if you added a category for how much money it would equal for "time" the recipe took and that would be included into the final cost. Like waiting for bread dough to proof, etc... Time is more valuable than money haha

Cool, the bread by looking at the process is an in-between of a sourdough and regular kind a bread. Super cool
