You don’t need to buy a plane ticket to get a decent Philly cheese steak, all it takes is two dollars and a little elbow grease.

As a baker I can confirm that being able to bake your own bread does indeed, make you more powerful.

Hey Josh,
Just wanted to say thanks for doing the But Cheaper series. I work teaching neurodiverse college students cooking skills, and having them watch this series has really helped me to impress on them how they can save money by cooking at home with good planning and careful grocery management.

I’m born and raised in Philadelphia and a self proclaimed cheesesteak connoisseur. Just wanted to give you props because that is one beautiful looking cheesesteak you whipped up.

I have loved all of the recipes in the “But Cheaper” series! They seriously need to be put into their own cookbook!!!
Would love to gift the entire “But Cheaper” series to my college kiddos, who are both always on the hunt for yummy food that they can make while they are away from home.

Anyone who tells you “there’s only one way to do a cheesesteak” isn’t from Philly. Everyone I know orders something different when we go to Dalessandro’s. The only thing I feel passionate about is chopping the meat up fine so it becomes one with the cheese, but hey some people like the ribbons 🤷🏻‍♂️

Joshua, Homesteader here north of Austin TX, retired chef 29 years and we love your channel!! I don't know if you went to chef school but man you can cook. I really enjoy how you break down the cost for these types of video's and show people how make something great at a low cost. Mike

As a dude from the UK who's only ever been the States once, and didn't go to Philly I've been craving a Philly cheese steak for weeks! Finally got round to making it tonight, and honestly didn't disappoint! Provolone is almost impossible to get here so I subbed it for cheddar, and it worked really well. Will definitely be making this again. Cheers Josh

I love that he cooks the meat on a griddle, and then transfers it to a cast iron to mix it 😅.

In Philly, It's just called a cheesesteak. If a place advertises a "Philly anything, " we all know it's gonna be shit.

In South Africa, this Pilly cheesesteak will cost $4 to buy from a shop. A quarter pounder deluxe med meal is $3 exactly in SA.

Joshie,
wanna say that the format without tasting is working a little better - we always know what the outcome of tasting is gonna be, so skipping it while keeping the description of the flavours and textures is totally enoug. I like it, keep it!

I don't know how many people will realize that after Josh says you're more powerful, they put in a power chord. Love the editing, its always really well done!

I was watching one of your 2018 videos; the bagel video and you asked us to comment. You are an amazing chef, skilled, irreverent, and innovative. I have had a catastrophic year. I watch your videos to rest and recharge. I am an alternative science high school teacher and my students deserve my very best. You help me do that. You rock! it is silly but I feel better every time you say "let's make this shall we". I appreciate you. Perhaps you might make the favorite dishes of your amazing crew?

I made these for the first time the other day. In order to do it the 'official' way the first time, I picked up some boneless ribeye steaks. After the steak and other ingredients, and $60 poorer, I had enough filling for about 5 sandwiches. They were great, but definitely going to try some other cuts of meat next time.

Josh, PLEASE do an Indian cuisine video covering some common curries, naan, raita, chutneys, etc. Would make my year. I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea but I absolutely love Indian cuisine and would love to see your take on it. Thank you so much for your knowledge and inspiration.

I use eye of round and fry it and onions in beef tallow to make it more flavorful, I also only hard sear half the beef so you get some medium well texture alongside the well done steak.
