I’ve used one many times. It’s a handy little tool to have in your pocket especially if your doing a lot of X-ray joints where a good fit up makes your life a lot less miserable. Not expensive either it’s worth having a couple around.

That's the correct tool to check the high -low in piping

Boilermaker here, I use it. Works great for fitting. Yeh, you can eyeball; but inspectors want stuff crispy nowadays. This helps, I don’t use the knob though, thumb on the gauge on the release and peep your measurements. 1/32; tack that shit 😂

Tack with 6010-6011 Ive used 6013 also. 7018 or 7024 good for roots with a backing plate but is also a good capper. Also grinders are your friend. Love a fresh wire wheel.

u could use a level if you cant see your outerwalls not aligned

never used it. Usually just shove the rod in there and eyeball it. Not a bad idea though.

No one uses that 😅 the sch of the pipe and your fitting needs to match you line up the OD the ID will be lined up.
