Dark Souls Dissected #4 - Fall Damage

Welcome to the fourth episode of Dark Souls Dissected. This video goes over the mechanics behind fall damage and kill boxes.

I think i might have it, the highest survivable fall in dark souls 1.

Go to the valley of the drakes, clap all the blue bois there and go to the non functioning crank that would have opened the New Londo flood gate.
Once you're up there equip the heaviest stuff you can. (I used havels set and an unintentionally glitched dragon fist with 600+ weight.)
Now equip the dragon bone fist weapon and do the strong shoryuken attack off the leftish side of the edge.
I ended up with 2 hp.
Im sure you could get to 1 or even die.
Jumping off will kill you and im pretty sure a fast roll will do you in too.

Edit: i was at max soul level for my class at 710.

TKGP also informed me that there are some places in the Great Hollow where you can get stuck in a falling animation on some bad geography. If this happens, 'falling too long' will also kill you then, since it's only a matter of how long you're suspended in a falling animation (the game doesn't account for distance covered).

I wish there was a trigger that removed the kill box at the gargoyles. I'm sure everyone has looked at that drop and thought, "yeah I can make that."

Side note: when you said "there's a variety of glitches that allow you to survive falls that you shouldn't have" and referenced enough material for it's own video, I was REALLY hoping you were going to make a video about that. Man, this series is just what I was looking for. I was just talking to my friend on a recent playthrough about what that town visible below firelink shrine was, and then I run into your video talking about the geography of the world. 4:57 That killbox is actually helpful for the player: If you landed there without dying, you would be stuck with nowhere to go but death. Worse, your bloodstain would be stuck on that spot with no way of retrieving it. Killing you immediately prevents the latter issue.
