Hancock - Prison Basketball Scene (HD)

Normal prisons have no hope of holding Hancock. He pulls a steel door off its hinges when he gets annoyed and flies over the fence to pick up a lost basketball. The fact that he's willing to stay of his own accord rather than actually escape is part of his Character Development.

This scene is important imo. It shows how Hancock has the freedom of choice. He always had it. He could flee and it would be no issue for him cause nobody can stop him but he chooses to stay and do his time which he considers the right choice. Also I love how there is no panic in the guards voice when he says "Perimeter breach". He's pretty much just giving them a heads up that Hancock is outside the fence 😂

Hancock knows he easily could've left, but he chose to go back. Respect.

When he shares and gets a clap really brings me to tears, as an alcoholic we think that no one cares about our problems but there really is an inner circle that makes us feel welcome

This is one of the best scenes in a superhero movie.
0:35 - 0:45
When he considers a life of freedom without a care in the world.

Or the life of responsibility. Being held accountable for your actions, and being a man of principle, and standards.

He has the power to do whatever he wants, and chooses to sacrifice his own momentary desires to become something grater.

I actually wouldn’t mind prison if I could leave if or whenever I please like this lol.

I think when everyone lets him know that any little thing he shares can mean the world he can really sense that when they thanked him for sharing.

The first people outside of Ray to accept and welcome him were some guys in prison. That says something

I think it would have been hilarious if when he jumped back in the prison he slammed dunked the ball.

This was one of the most profound scenes. It depicts the battle of nature v nurture going on within Hancock's soul. His instincts tell him to fly away and be free - social image and respect be damned. But his Superego convinces him to stay, endure this charade of captivity a little longer.
And in the end it pays off

The movie had good moments. Up until they introduced the woman (I can't remember her name) and it all went down hill after that.

I like the prison guards not overreacting when Hancock return to prison with the basketball. It's like they give him a break for trying to be better.

Hancock is and has the title of “Unchained” since no one & nobody can hold him down.

I just now realized his name is John Hancock because, when he woke up with no memories, he had literally nothing, so when someone asked for his John Hancock (his signature) he just... Went with that and signed John Hancock.

They should make a sequel or remake of this movie. I wish he was in MCU.

I liked that support group scene... It wasn't what he shared that was worth the clap... They clapped for the mere fact that he shared and was willing to participate and be a part of their group that they felt was deserving of a clap.

This movie has potential to be the next Taxi Driver/Joker type movie. An alcoholic, lonely superhero who is looking for his own morality and code. Excellent scenes here and snippets of gold throughout the first half of the movie. What a great concept; an alcoholic irresponsible superman lacking purpose and meaning. Be great if Jordan Peterson did a commentary on this film.

Those tough as nails guys supporting him in such a human way are the best scene of the movie.

Imagine the cops getting a news report that the prison that Hancock was in got destroyed.
