I've got such respect for this guy. My mom has cancer and is going through a great deal. She actually consulted with him. He wouldn't do it bc he wasn't the best guy to do the job. The degree of treatment she needs, he literally said I'm not the best for this. That's the doctor you want to talk to. That's the doctor you want. While my mom wanted doctors closer to home she's OK w going to the Cleveland clinic and mayo. Dr Youn isn't a fake dr trying to get you for your money. He's wonderful. Even when it hurts.

Hi Dr Youn, I just read the newsletter about the tough week you’ve had and since I assume it’s a no reply email I wanted to give you my condolences here. I hope you feel better soon and I also wanted to say thank you for all the valuable content you create for people like me. Much love 💕

Because of you, when I did finally go for an evaluation, I had it in my mind that if the doctor wanted to do a whole bunch of things I really didn’t need, I was walking out. Luckily, she was fantastic. I went in for a mini facelift consultation, and she said I didn’t need it. I had good tone and good skin. She said lipo would get the effect I was looking for. I later had filler (non permanent, she didn’t recommend permanent either). I still love my results a year later.

Thank you for your content and keeping us informed of things we should stay the heck away from! ❤

My sincere condolences over the loss of your beloved grandmother and precious dog. My husband and I always adopt senior dogs, and I believe the greatest gift to give them is to end their suffering and hold them as they cross the Rainbow Bridge whenever the time comes. But what joy they give us in the years we have with them!

Coolsculpting should be on this list. It's not a surgery so it's marketed as non-invasive and "FDA approved" when in fact the FDA recalled several of its applicators. And I can assure you, it's invasive and I had to have surgery to fix it.

The IV therapy warning was extremely insightful. You are a great person to give such an unbiased view on these surgeries, people deserve to hear an honest real discussion and not one pointed at their wallet.

Some years back in my city a spa was offering vampire facials which ended up causing a HIV outbreak and got shut down. Owner ended up doing jail time for it.

As someone who was addicted to IV opioids for a decade, I can attest that saving your veins (especially the one in the crook of the arm) is extremely important. Once it’s done, it’s done. I cringe whenever I need to have blood drawn or IV put in bc it’s a long and painful and 9/10 times unsuccessful! When I gave birth to my first baby last year, it was almost impossible to find a suitable vein. 3 different RNs tried before having to call the anesthesiologist who uses ultrasound to help find a vein, and even then he had a lot of trouble and after 30 min of unsuccessful attempts, a 2nd anesthesiologist had to be called bc it was taking too long and the he had to go to a surgery he was scheduled for. Surprisingly he was able to get a vein! But still, this wasn’t enough bc during labor I lost a ton of blood and they needed additional IVs to administer more medicine but I only had the 1 IV, so they had to call 2 phlebotomists (they even said send your best ones) who labored over me at the same time endlessly poking in both arms trying to find a vein. This was while the drs were working down there trying to get the bleeding to stop, and also i kept vomiting. It was pure hell!!

I also heard such horror stories about silicone fillers, and the worst thing is, it can happen years after injection. That thing should be banned!

If you want vitamins directly into the bloodstream without needles look at sublingual (specifically formulated ingredients that are able to be absorbed by the skin of the mouth) or patches (vitamins in a skin patch that is absorbed through the skin).

I’ve had numerous IV treatments due to hospitalizations. I’ve had numerous blown veins & infiltrations of caustic meds. My last hospitalization I was told after the 6th try that finally found a patent vein, that I would need a central line, probably an implanted permanent one. I was only 55 at the time.😳

9:18 I already have to deal with some fucked up veins in certain places at only 16 due to chemotherapy as a baby. Guys you do NOT want to be a hard stick. For a while I had to go in for treatment due to the aftermath of the cancer that involved putting in an IV for anesthesia. It sucks. It especially sucks when you’re told that the doc knows best when they try to place an IV in a place where you know there’s a lot of damage to the veins (for me it’s on the back of my hands) and they try to stick it in a couple of times but nobody will listen when you say to try another spot because you know that they won’t get an IV in where they are trying to put one in. At the hospital I went to for a while for those treatments for the aftermath of the cancer I had they have to bring in a “procedure team” that has an ultrasound that they use to find good veins.

So guys, DON’T get fucking IVs when you don’t need them.

IV therapy should be reserved for fluids/ medications that can’t be given orally. As a nurse and certified wound/ ostomy/ continence nurse w years of pain management and hospice experience, please take hydration/ medications/ nutrition by mouth if you’re able (and be grateful you have a healthy digestive system).
