My ex thought HDR was a gimmick because the only HDR she has ever seen was shitty HDR on shitty monitors. I got to see HDR for the first time in 2006 when it was first shown to the world at a SIGGRAPH event in Boston. It was from a company called Brightside which I found out later was bought by Dolby and turned into Dolby Vision. I have no idea how many nits they were pushing in the demo but it was fucking bright. It started off in a garage and the door slowly opened letting in the sun light and it felt so real.

I just ordered my first HDR monitor a few days ago and it supposed to arrive tomorrow; however, It only goes up to 550 nits. It will be replacing a crappy ASUS monitor I bought 7 years ago for $120. Can't wait.

I'm a bit confused with the different modes, my Oled monitor is True black 400 and also has a HDR 1000 mode. Why would they bother giving it a True black 400 option in the selectable monitor options. Surely everyone should just pick HDR 1000 in this case or am i missing something?

This is the second AOC monitor I have bought. Currently got Q27G3XMN. I played call of duty but if I set it to HDRgame the picture is absolutely abysmal. Really dull and grainy, the opposite of what you’ve described in this video. I Play on an Xbox series s. Is there something I need to do?

Can you recommend a 27"144hz miniled with good HDR for $500? I dont need 300hz but I would enjoy a good picture, I read the AOCs have trouble with text

Great video....but since I watched it on a Samsung 32 inch curved SDR monitor I did not see much of the difference to justify the increased price, haha. I guess I have to go in person and see the HDR monitors in action to discover what they are all about. Thanks.
