Pretty good exercise but its freakin hard to progress on it since you cant lift that much weight. That's why I prefer exercises like dips, pushdowns and skullcrushers.

This only works for one of my arms the other just works on my elbow and the tricep has always been non responsive

Another tip would be to just not do it
Go for cable extensions, or benching instead: safer and more reliable

i think you should move your upper arm like a row, then perform a kickback. Because another function of the long head of the triceps is to extend the arm. In these manner we can target all three heads

Not worth doing this exercise anyway. Just do close grip bench, dips, skull-crushers and tricep push-downs. That’s all you need.

Better as a cable exercise. It's hilarious when most people do it with dumbells, seems like they don't understand the concept of gravity.
