Exactly why I left emergency nursing. Tired of helping people only to be assaulted. Not worth it.

This is just terrible. It’s also terrible to be assaulted by an angry physician. That happened to me this year. The place I work has a policy for zero tolerance for workplace violence. I haven’t seen it. That physician is still working as if nothing happened. One wonders if the shoe were on the other foot, would they have zero tolerance? Has anyone had this experience? If so, please tell me what you did. It’s eating me up. It’s very hard to come to work.

Was pinned up against the wall by a naked drunk male resident in a assistant living facility. I was told to redirect him next time!!!!

I could understand why. My experience with healthcare is that clinics, hospitals, etc. they have poor customer care service. The system they have makes patients run around and around and around until finally get seen. Then clinics, etc. make you feel like it’s your fault or you’re dumb, or just not important. Then you get a nice 10k -$ bill from the hospital or clinics. The insurance you pay thousands into don’t cover half the bill. Etc etc etc. I’ve seen and heard lots of horror stories about any visit to the dr. I don’t feel sorry for these professions. If I undermined anyone in my profession, I would get an earful. Or worst. Loose a contract. When you have no competition patients have to put up with crappy service and then put a smile ? Nope.
