I had a memory card mod like that. It allowed me to play PS2 discs that I burnt with my laptop. Good times.

I've made one of those! It's a memory card with modding software. It essentially will let you do what ever you want with your PS2 from running custom programs to backing up your old discs to play from a hard drive. It's really cool!

It's a software mod made possible because Sony planned to release firmware updates on discs. These discs would install the new firmware onto the memory card. Only one disc was released before Sony realised you could just remove the memory card to revert to the factory firmware.

I've been researching PS2 nodding recently, and I think FreeMcBoot is a menu that allows for modding and adding OPL (Open PS2 Loader), a way to download roms onto the memory cards
