One of the reasons I like MrBallen so much is that he never mocks, even gently, the hapless victims in his stories. He tries to find reasonable explanations for their choices, and never portrays them as stupid or ridiculous. I can listen and enjoy the story while empathizing with the victims and their loved ones - and not worry that the latter will be hurt, or the former's memories be tarnished.

_"Sorry, M'am... We can't file a missing persons report until there is absolutely no chance that your brother could be found alive..."_ 😑

That sand crusher death was one of the most hellish deaths I’ve ever heard of …. Being dragged, suffocated, and crushed at the same time? ?
I cannot imagine the level of fear she was experiencing at that point.

Police telling someone to wait to file a missing persons report just sounds like neglegance.

For her being a safety inspector, her own safety never came into consideration while doing the inspection.

Helpful tip- if you lose something on a ride, just tell one of the ride operators what happened. Hopefully at the end of the day they can turn the ride off and find your lost phone/ wallet for you. It may be inconvenient but it’s not worth your life!

I live in San Antonio, this smoke stack is located in an area called The Pearl where people walk around and get their craft beer and sit outdoors at restaurants while kids run around a giant grass patch. They also turned an old beer distillery into a hotel and all that, very popular hotspot. I have always looked at this door hatch, which is still padlocked, and wondered what was inside. I had NO IDEA this happened. I instantly got wide eyed and had that 'oh shit i know that door!' moment.

as heart breaking as James’ story is: at least he didn’t suffer. I can’t image what went through that poor woman’s head as she went down in the sand crusher

Killed by sand crusher is one of the more horrific stories I've heard on this channel.

As someone who grew up near Cedar Point and worked there as a teen. I remember this happening.
Plenty of people jump the fence to look for items. They're pretty high fencing. It's clear you shouldn't be there. But people still do it.

OMG! Story number 2, Raptor. We have just had an identical incident happen here in Melbourne, Australia. A young woman dropped her phone from the ride and went over the fence, onto the tracks to retrieve her phone. She was hit and thrown a distance. Now on life support in hospital.

If an officer ever tells you it’s “too early” to file a missing person report tell them kick rocks and file one anyway. Cause of tv a lot of ppl believe that lie that you have to wait 24-48 hr to file a report. This is 100% inaccurate. The moment you realize they are missing and are worried file a report. There is no time limit and the first 24 hrs are the most important.

For anyone wondering, they did slightly increase safety measures around Raptor at Cedar Point. The fence is now really tall metal bars with a spiky top and around that specific spot of the ride, there's a large rectangle of super bright lights which strobe before each time the ride zips by. It does indeed create more warning for all park goers, but for those who know why the strobes are there, it's almost like a grave site and it's a bit haunting.

The part where he said Victor’s hands were bloody and bruised from how much he was trying to escape, broke my heart.. and the fact that his hands were still on the door when he passed.. may he rest in peace 🤍

I just wanted to say Thank you. I'm an IT technician with ADHD and it's really hard for me to focus on contiguous tasks. These videos provide the perfect blend of attention requirement. It keeps my thoughts from spinning too much and I can work effectively. Probably a little different to most praise, but it has really made a big difference to my mental health because I am able to function and do really good work, Which keeps me employed and proud of my work because I can stay focused and do a good job. I am only as good at my job as I am because of your vids, So thanks man. Keep up the amazing work, and if you're ever down under, I'd love to shout ya a beer.

"No tresspasing" sign is there for a reason. If only James would have done the right thing and told staff that he'd lost his phone and wallet ☹️

I am a truck driver and I'm going to be completely honest. Minus a few exceptions, I've been listening to these about 8 hours a day for the past few days.

Something John didn't mention for the first one (#3) is that the driver admitted (and apparently this was apparent in the ccTV as well) to being distracted by his cell phone. Sure, she was in his blind spot when it happened, but not before then. It's ultimately HIS job to check that no one is in front of him before operating heavy machinery. Not saying he should live with horrible guilt forever or something, but I feel like that's an important detail, especially given that I'm seeing people blaming the victim in the comments.

I very much appreciate how you took the time to acknowledge that James was an intelligent man who had an unfortunate lapse in judgement which ultimately led to his demise. Thank you for never mocking these people for poor choices with disastrous results.

You are appreciated, sir.
