Father takes his uncertified first time diving son to one of the most dangerous dives on the planet. Very smart. Very smart.

Not cave diving is one of my favorite hobbies. I didn't go yesterday and it was a blast!!

As both a diver and a father, story #2 is completely insane to me. I can't even begin to imagine what that guy was thinking.

Alfredo's death is one of the most frustrating rescues I've ever heard. I was getting so angry at the incompetence and arrogance of the firefighters

It’s horrible how Dylan and Alfredo died, alone and in the dark, while depending on irresponsible and incompetent adults to help them. May they Rest In Peace,

Y’all know what is fun to me? Getting nachos with friends and not cave diving into a hole of death.

Am I the only one confused by a 10 year old German kid on his own on a rainforest tour?

Taking his son to a difficult dive for his first time diving is like letting someone drive for the first time on a busy highway. I know the father wanted to give his son a memorable experience, but if it's your first time diving, you should always be a breath away from the surface. If anything goes wrong, you can always swim to the surface.

As a comparison of how crazy that story of the eagles nest was, imagine your dad saying “hey son want to go on a hike for your first time?” And he takes you to Mount Everest….

The best part of underwater caves and caves in general is that you don't have to go into them

After watching all of the videos on this channel: Note to self: No Caves. No SCUBA diving into Caves. No walking into caves. Don’t even look into a Cave.

its kind of sad that no one listened to the 1 guy who knew how to ACTUALLY help the kid.
if they just listened to him, the kid probably would not have died..

I just researched the first story. It was quite a trip to reach the entrance to the Nam Talu cave. John and Helena had to travel 2 hours by boat to reach a small village and then they had to trek through the jungle for another 2 hours. After Helena's ordeal she had to make the 2 hour hike through the jungle again after being trapped in the cave for 16 hours. She contracted the life-threatening Weil’s disease from her time in the cave and spent a week in the hospital. This was the first leg in what was supposed to be a year-long trip, during which they would spend several months in Thailand before moving on to Australia, then Japan. John had inherited the family business and at just 24, he wanted to see more of the world before he settled down. Helena was only 21 at the time this tragedy occurred. She had to go to counseling to overcome her survivor's guilt, but is now happily married with several children.

I would slap my husband silly if he was like "here let me jump into the rushing water that just sucked everyone away and see if I can make it"... like no, sit down on this dang ledge and wait it out with me!

That last one pissed me off so much I started crying. Nothing but damn incompetence

I think Alfredo's story might have been one of the most tragically sad stories you've shared 😢 that poor child being failed over and over again by the people supposed to save him.

The Alfredo story infuriates me like nothing else. You had a spelunking expert *right there* who was both familiar with people stuck in tight spaces and also knew the best way to get them out, and not only did they not listen to him, they actively went *against* his advice. The end result cost Alfredo his life. Whoever was on that fire brigade should have been fired for incompetence.
