This Title Match Network exclusive is from our George South Documentary, produced during Wrestlecade Weekend several years back.

Not only is Mr. #1 George South a legendary journeyman who performed in WWF, NWA and Mid-South, but he's also a top notch pro wrestling trainer.

George was given the task and honor to train the next generation of legends. Ric Flair's late son Reid was trained by George. Same case for Ricky Steamboat's son Richie before he retired from competition.

When Bobby Eaton's son got in the game, there was only one trainer who the Beautiful one trusted. One of George's biggest success stories is the daughter of Tully Blanchard, Tessa who he trained from the start in Charlotte, North Carolina.

George also trained current WWE star Cedric Alexander, former AEW star Big Swole, Impact star Savannah Evans and many others.

I've been watching these George South interviews lately, and the dude has me wanting to go to his wrestling school at 45 years of age! What a great ambassador to wrestling and locker room leader! George you are the man!

I had the privilege of working for George through his Exodus Wrestling promotion for a few years. I can attest that there is not a nicer guy in Wrestling than George. I started in an old building with no running water (just a garage, really) behind someone's house and continued with him when he moved to the little strip mall thing beside Troutman's BBQ next to hwy 49 in Concord. Everything that I learned from him was pure gold and helped me immensely when I eventually ventured out into the indy scene. I got to be around so many greats thanks to him. Ricky Morton, Jimmy Valiant, Ivan Kolloff and more. They were all first class people as well.

To add to the point he was making with his John Cena story. When I was seven years old, the AWA came to my little hometown at the local high school. Before I go on, I have to describe the gym/auditorium. The way it was set up in that high school was that the gym was on one side of a set of curtains and the auditorium was on the other. They just opened the curtains to allow more seating for the wrestling. Anyway, during the intermission, I saw “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin walking across the stage. My Dad boosted my up the stage and I had my pad of paper and a pen and I asked Garvin “Can I have your autograph?” He said with a smile “Yeah, sure.” He signed the autograph, handed me the paper and pen, and then picked me up and handed me to my Dad. That was 38 years ago, I’ve been to more wresting cards than I can count, and I still go to them today. However, that one memory is the greatest memory I have of ever going to a wrestling match.

I don't understand how in the fuck George South isnt a hall of famer, the man is a legend and you dont always have to be the champion in order to have a major contribution to the business and leave a legacy. He should be in the hall of fame

Yes John Cena is more of an ambassador to the wwe than anything. Cena has given a lot back.
