The ultimate way to counter lightning is to use the fire mist raven to dash forward followed into sakura dance and finally mid air lazulite axe.

There are 7 methods to reverse lightning:
1) standard reversal (just jump and deflect lightning, after that press attack button)
2) reversal with mist raven (use mist raven. Don't press awsd buttons. When you in mid-air press attack button)
3) reversal with sakura dance (just use skill)
4) reversal with senpou kicks (use skill in specific timing)
5) reversal with shadowrush (use skill in specific timing)
6) reversal with fire aged mist raven and sakura dance (use fire mist raven on any direction except when you in mid-air and quickly use sakura dance. This is most effective but hard to use and rip 5 emblems)
7) reverse a natural lightning (only works on fountainhead palace. Stay in one place where you can catch lightning and reverse lightning. It deals way more damage than normal reversal but it kinda useless)

My favorite advanced tricks are:
-Sakura Dance for the triple lightning reversal
-Using dodge to phase through Ashina Cross
-Dishonoring Sekijo with the shinobi platform jump
-Throwing feints to trigger (and exploit) interactions with certain bosses

My fav 2 lighting counters are shadow fall lighting reversal where you kinda have to do a weird timing but you can like grab the lighting mid dash then fly up into the air and double strike with it and the other is mid air back flip off the target deflect and throw back at them another pretty tricky one bc this only works on some enemies and it’s a really weird timing on the back flip bc you kinda have to fall into the hit or else you can some times jump over the attack

I just finished dying 30 times to him now . On my 25th try i just made it to his 3rd phase and didnt even get to use lightning reversal.

You can also do it with the high monk kick
