Why you should use a two bounce serve

In this video you will learn how to do a two bounce serve.

This is a serve which bounces in the middle of the table and the next bounce is very close to the end of the table. The length of this serve can be difficult to deal with. It’s not easy to attack and often an opponent will play a passive return which you can attack.

The tips in this video come from Lois Peake. Lois has represented England and the junior and senior level and is also a very good coach.

It's important to also remember that the serve has to be low. If it's a bit too high, even if it would bounce twice on the table, it can be attacked with a top-spin shot.

The big problem with 2 bouncer serves is performing it at 9-10 down in the 5th game. Also well done to Miss Peake in having a perfectly, clearly legal serve every time 😊.

One could also argue that a long two-bounce serve, even if recognized as such by the receiver, is harder to push back short, and therefore increases your chances of getting an attackable third ball without the risks associated to a long serve.

Is there any regulation on the serve having to be done with the ball being struck from behind the end line?
Is it legal to serve right up at the net if there are no restrictions on that?
