SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN FOR YOUR LITTER BOX: a short trip to Ikea and this beautiful Ikea HOL scandi coffee table turned modern design litter box could be the cabinet that hides your litter box. Scandinavian interior design is one of my favorites, and I thought a scandinavian DIY cat litter box project would be way too advanced for me. I was wrong! I already use and love my storage tote litter box, and I was so excited to get inspiration for my DIY litter box.

Seriously, check out ur video and get inspired to DIY your own cat box, this is honestly the easier DIY for the best litter box for your cats.. And it’s dog proof, which helps.

To make this you need either one of these:
... and ...

If you saw my video on how to have a smell free litter box then you know how to make your own litter box and how to keep it stink-free (because no one likes litter box stink… I mean really, litter box smell is the worst!). And of course, you have to pick the right cat litter for the litter box for your cat, but seriously, this scandi design inspired litter box has truly changed our lives.

I always hate closed litter boxes. However this is the least claustrophobic box design I've ever seen, and it allows ventilation. Love it <3

Made this the other day - we have 3 cats. Didn’t put in the cat door just cut a square entrance. Our litter tray and mat fitted perfectly. We made 2 and sit them next to each other on our balcony. Absolutely perfect! They have used it with no issue, I think they feel safer. No litter on the floor either. This has solved the issue of the balcony area feeling like the cats toilet. Now you wouldn’t know it’s there!🎉

This is the absolute best version I’ve seen of a DIY hidden litter box. I love that the primary focus is the cat’s comfort and wellbeing. I think my cats would use this without protest because it’s airy and big enough to not feel claustrophobic. Also, how much better does that look than a plastic litter box on the floor? This will give me more options for putting the litter box where it’s comfortable for the cats without the humans having to look at the cat’s toilet. 10/10⭐️

A lovely idea! 💛 Even without a litter box in there, my cats would love to sit inside and sneakily spy on me through the holes!

Clever multi-purposing. Here’s my addition: Add a charcoal filter cut-to-size on the inside under the sliding tabletop to absorb odors.🌿🐾

Saving this as I SO want to make it. My 5 year old granddaughter thinks the cat toilet is a sandbox for her to play in. I will be adding a latch lock on the top so she cannot get into it.
This by far the BEST catbox container I've ever seen. Thank you. <3

I love this! I am moving to an apartment and want to have the box not in my bathroom for once but also not just sitting there looking crazy! This is functional while not being ugly and I thank you so so much for this idea!

I feel like this would also be a nice and cozy sleeping spot for our cats if I added a simple cushion. My parents are redoing their living room and I have been pushing for a japandi/scandi style. My mom has been wanting to buy new cat beds, but couldn't find any in local stores that fit her tastes and living room so I'm going to recommend her this video, I think it would be a great compromise :) Thank you for the inspo!

A smell free litter box starts with the actual box that you use! If the box is metal it won’t soak up the old smells plastic is porous we use a chafing dish they sell stainless steel litter boxes they work wonderfully, also feed your cat a clean diet not the trash they sell at the grocery store! Both of these things help along with cleaning the box every other day! This is a very cute idea for hiding the litter box…

Great idea ! I think the cat would like it more with more entrances so it won't feel trapped

Fantastic and the background 5:30 music you chose really said it all ! We are so fortunate to have these beautiful little creatures in our homes - this is a wonderful way to make it nicer for all! Thank you!

Love the design so much! ❤️ However, cats really should have more litter to dig and cover when they're done. I know this is irrelevant to the main point of the video. I just always freak out when people don't put much litter at all because I know how uncomfortable that can be for cats and even cause behavioral broblems sometimes 😅😔

I had this exact box setup for years - retired it when we lost our second to last cat about 3 years ago…

It’s amazing for spaces where you need multiple boxes but want it to look less ‘crazy cat lady’ ;)
We made ours when we had 4 cats, and it worked amazingly!!

It just wasn’t working when our second to last boy died, he was a pretty big boy ( around 12 pounds) and it was great for him and his brother - and even for our older ladies up to a point…

Now we only have one Old lady left and she isn’t able to get into the big box anymore, so we just wanted it to be accessible to her ( she is 16, 5 years Old and a tiny 4 pound Persian ;) so we’ve made her a low to the ground open box with low sides, that works for her!

Omg just the idea of just a plastic bin with a cut out is GENIUS! My cat loves to piss on the walls, so was looking for a litter box with high edges.

You should totally make these and sell them.

What an amazing idea! I'd make the side removable so you just easily slide out the litter box and put fake plants on top of it for decorating or a blanket where the cats can sleep.
This will eliminate litter tracking, make your house beautiful and give a lot of space for the cat

I'd love to try this! My mom wouldn't let me have a cat because the smell of poop always triggers her sinusitis so I made a cover using cardboard boxes temporarily 😊 will definitely find this one in Ikea 😆 i like the simplicity of this one ❤ greetings from Philippines!
