Practical everyday uses for a gas mask

Inspired by WeaponCollector's stream where we were talking about using a gas mask for sanding wood. This video contains a practical list of things you could do with a gas mask/respirator.
Such as, sanding wood, filing metal, using a bench grinder, mowing the grass, handling hay and straw, dusting and using strong chemicals.
Some of these things require a particulate filter, others a charcoal filter.

I used mine for beekeeping. When sterilizing with sulfur dioxide the fumes can make you faint. Wearing the mask you can work a lot more relaxed.

A friend of mine wore a gp5 when there was bad pollen outside because he reacts quite badly to it. I thought it was cool and got one too, so that was my first mask.

A few weeks ago a bar and a building got set on fire and there was smoke coming from it for 3 days there was a bank near it and we had to deposit money to the bank, I had two gas masks in a haversack one Drager M65 and one Avon FM12, so me and gran went to the bank, there were police and ambulances and also people trying to stop the fire, the police were talking to some people telling them how it got set on fire, then one of the police officers saw us with gas masks and looked at us suspiciously, he said to us “Excuse me, why are you wearing a gas mask?” We told him “Because there are fumes and smoke and we don’t want to inhale that, that’s the reason why we’re wearing gas masks.” Then he said “Alright.” Then the conversation ended, we deposited the money got some groceries and went back home.

I use the gas mask that you have on two filters video for airsofting, I've changed the weaker panoramic lens on it to ballistic lens, it works wonderfully when airsofting

Actually used my Dräger M65 when i was doing something in the basement. The dust really irritated my eyes and lungs, so i used it and it absolutely worked. I was using a new Dräger ABEKP3 filter, so thank you for getting me into all of this

Personally I think the most practical use of a gas mask is going to the bathroom when the kids in there are vaping

Just got round to watching this, great topic, and great uses for a gas mask, i really do think a gas mask would be great for working in a shed, as like we mentioned its a mask / goggles / face protection all in one and ready to use, and i bet its a lot cheaper than buying all those things together.

Patching up drywall holes would be a good use for one. I tried a 3M 97 one (WalMart), and it was pointless. The drywall isn't dangerous, but the patching compound is. Granted it depends on how often you do it.

I use my m59 when I clean my cats litter box beacuse I cant smell anything even though the filter is expired

Hi again sorry for keep asking but i just want to learn more i wanted to know its kinda dumb im gonna say it does the asbestos stay on the hole of the gas mask even if you got the filter off or it is safe to breath in the gas mask with no filter? and does every filter have asbestos? i just wanted to know.

My #1 use for respirators is for allergies. I wear a half mask wherever I go due to nasty pollen allergies. I am looking to buy a mask, and I think I'll buy an Avon fm 12. I'm not going to buy a GP 5 because I have long hair. I also don't want to give random children nightmares, but that isn't my main concern.
