The string used to fly kites - famously called manjha - is very sharp and can fatally injure birds, who at times, get trapped in it unawares.

When a kite is cut or flies off, the manjha goes along with it and entangles at random places in the city, making it dangerous for birds.

Do not discard kite strings on plants or at places where birds might take shelter or sit.

If you find a kite string hanging from a pole or somewhere it doesn’t belong, cut it off as short as possible without putting yourself in danger.

If you ever find a bird struggling because of being entangled in string, make sure to contact the fire department to rescue it, if you cannot.
