Lived in mendocino county for 50 years now. I can't imagine how people are still surprised down river. This series of storms hasn't been near what it's being played up as.

do not drive into water. road can dip, can get trapped in car if doors lock and windows won't open. Been there, you don't want to be. Hillside homes should be checked for mud slides and trees about to fall. stay safe.

I used to live in Sebastopol, and remember at least one large flood in the 90s, Cazadero gets huge amounts of rain even in normal times. If I were there, Id leave.

Guerneville has flooded since at least the 70s when I lived in Monte Rio. The original houses were summer vacation homes. People just dealt with it then.

Areas around the Russian River have been flooding forever. Every 10 years or so. Same O, same O

It would be better to leave now and wait for the next storms to finish.

Ships have lifeboats just in case of emergency. Houses should also have similar devices that can be used in emergency such as flood. The lifeboat should be anchored to the ground with strong cable or chain.
