I was 13...I blinked...and I am almost 50. Time flies. What a decade the 80's were.

My husband was alive and healthy and we were driving to New England and this song was playing and I thought I’ll remember this forever. I did ❤️💕

Almost 40 years ago...released in 1985...I still get goose bumps and butterfly feeling when I hear this song...Thumbs up guys if you agree.

This song takes me straight back to the eighties. What a wonderful time to be young. I wouldn't trade places with young people today for anything.

Anyone ever get overwhelmed with nostalgia the tears just begin to fall? That's what this song does to me. Thumbs up if you agree.

I’ve always loved this song. I was 15 at the time, I was happy, but I didn’t realize it.

The town where this was filmed is Hebden Bridge. I used to watch this video when it came out in 1986/87, and wonder, "what kind of place is this?" it just seemed like it was from another world....dark, overcast, cold, wet, old stone....but achingly beautiful, just like the song. My wife is from Liverpool, and when I was visiting her family in about 2010, her dad and I took a trip and found the town. I can't tell you how surreal it was to see it, and be right there with those steep streets, and odd 3 to 4 story houses that occupied both sides of a winding roadway. and then we drove up, and out of the town, and in seconds ran into a little snow storm as we travelled into the moors outside of town. dream come true.

This song reminds me so much of winter 1985/1986. I was 16 years old and my dad was just diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. I remember first hearing it on the radio late one weekend night while driving back from Detroit as the snow was gently falling down. It was so perfect and quiet. Beautiful during a not so good time in my life.

Shortly before my dad died when I was a kid he asked me if I could find him a copy of this song on the internet and record it from my computer to a cassette so he could listen to it during his commute to and from work. I did and he loved having it to listen to. Shortly after he was killed in a card wreck during his commute. This may have been one of the last songs he heard.

I’m 50, and I’ve always been a pretty strong, tough guy with genuine respect for other people…but man I feel like I’m becoming the biggest crybaby on the planet. The most universal song about nothing can still make me drop tears like it was nothing. The most basic of lyrics can pull up memories that make me feel so sad that they’re just memories and long gone and never coming back. Some of these memories I think just seem like they were from such happy times but in reality some weren’t but they still being up the same feelings for some reason. I cherish all of them, good and bad ones alike…but the future came so quick that thinking about the future today scares me to death because no matter how long it takes to get here, it’s really just around the corner. It’s a weird thought, doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense unless you’ve already lived it once and dealt with it, then it should make perfect sense why such memories…such songs on the radio (or YouTube, lol) can make us feel so happy and sad at the same time. I appreciate each day I get to live out nowadays, that’s for sure….and I appreciate all the people here that are n the same boat as myself…being able to communicate so easily with you all. It’s a beautiful thing. 😊❤

This is one of those songs that penetrates the soul and pulls at the heart. It evokes a feeling of a lost time which has gone forever. A time that had its struggles and troubles, but underneath, there was a sense of freedom in which we all shared and long to return.

It's the year 2024 and I'm still listening and loving the song.
Songs like this are hard to come by today.

My dad played this a lot and I mean a lot! Lost him in 2016 and this came on the radio the other day and it floored me. What a beautiful song. Cherished memories. Can still hear him singing along. X

This has got to be one of the greatest songs of the iconic new wave pop era of the 80s.
