Ex-smoker here, quit smoking without any patches or replaceable substances and devices (i.e Vape, E-cigarettes and etc.), From my experience I can confidently say that quitting smoking is a fully psychological thing, if you wish to quit smoking you simply have get rid of the idea in your mind that smoking will help you to reduce your stress or help you to feel relaxed, make you to look though or serious and that kind bullsh*t (especially people from my surrounding who have started smoking in their underage years, this was one of the main idiotic reasons for starting smoking). The first step you can do is to focus on what actually caused you to smoke, you can also try to remember those times, years when you weren't smoking or overall when you didn't have any idea about smoking or usage of smokable items, substances, devices in general. second step which is very challenging is trying distracting yourself from thoughts about smoking, think that your future depends on your present actions and as a distraction you have to somehow try to keep your mouth "busy" so for that you can try chewing a soft candy, a chewing gum ( a regular chewing gum not containing nicotine), gummies (gummy bears, worms etc) and apart from that, you have to clean your mind and thoughts as well, just go out for a simple walk in the park, or if you're living in a private house (just like me), you can try spending your time in your backyard or garden. I also would like to warn that when you quit smoking, your appetite grows significantly, the reason is that when you smoke it affects on your stomach and when you quit smoking your stomach wants to be "filled" so you have to be very carefull with your diet, when I quit smoking I gained a weight in a short period of time untill I replaced soft drinks with just a regular water, and also another thing that is very important to mention is after quitting one day you can have a sick feeling (your body temperature will increase up to 40°C/104°F, you will have feeling of dizziness and mild headaches, the worst will be for those how have Migraines, temporary loss of apetite) but you don't have to be afraid of that, since your body is "preparing for change". after 3 weeks of quitting you'll no longer have any urge to smoke.
