Originally bought the Duo 1 as a secondary device. However, I've been using the Duo 1 as my daily phone for the past week or so. I don't hear many people talk about one of the biggest pluses with this phone and that is the single screen aspect ratio. It is so much nice than the tall skinny phones. It is a lot closer to the original Galaxy Note that I had.

Great video Adam! I'm OG Duo squad and I've been really happy with my Duo and Duo 2. Keep covering Duo!

I bought duo 2 and had the fold 3. I am so happy with it. I multi-task like a beast. I didn't need a phone with everything blown up. I barely opened it. I find myself opening this up a lot. I was able to download my work stuff and can communicate like crazy. Hard to explain. I find I leave my laptop at work ans use this in its place. Reading is amazing, games, you tube, email and etc. If on fence give it try. All the updates have made this awesome. :) having two full screen to use together or separate is just like dual monitors which is so great. Using the pen is super awesome too.

I’d love to see a comparison between the Duo 2 and the Fold 4!
Another great, honest video. Thank you!

I just bought duo 1 128gb new for $289 and a refurbished Galaxy watch 3 for $100.

Not having notifications showing outside does make it less user friendly. However this is all solved after having a smart watch that can text, call, navigate, and read notifications. I use to think having a smart watch was repetitive and not needed until I got this phone.

The duo 1 doesn't have any good case protection against drops. So just more reason to use the smart watch while leaving the phone in the pocket because it's a huge phone. I use the duo for multi tasking when I am sitting down on a table.

I usually browse on my dual monitor PC with 4 window open for browsing online. So having duo 1 as a phone is perfect for me.

I want one so badly! But im not gonna pay 1500 bucks for a phone. Hopefully it will go back to $1000 or lower at some point. Probably my favorite phone in the market though currently. Can't wait what the surface duo 3 will be like next year (if there is one).

Thanks for the update...I am using the Duo 1 and I really like it, of course for the discounted price and after all the updates. This is my Blackberry replacement for now.

I had to send mine back to Microsoft for a warranty battery replacement. (Think it was because I had a version of YouTube Vanced that drained battery fast, which resulted in me putting it through a lot of charge cycles. AccuBattery had it at about 15-20% of the max capacity lost, which tracks with how much battery life I got compared to Shane Craig's.) Held off doing it until yesterday. I already miss it.

Someone in the comments mentioned the V60 which was my phone before I upgraded to the Fold 4. I would have loved to try the Duo 2 but when picking the Fold 4 over it but there were 2 main reasons I did and still would.

Cover Screen- Having the cover screen makes the Fold 4 feel like 2 devices in one. I hated always having to open the V60 to use it if I just wanted to take a picture, send a quick message, or take a quick note, I always had to open the device up. The fact that the Duo 2 has no cover display (LG had at least notifcations on the cover) means that opening it for quick things might actually take longer so it depends on how you will use it.

Multitasking- The multitasking gets brought up for having the 2 independent screens and a better aspect ratio on Duo. I 100% agree with that and think this can be a personal preference thing, but for my use case, the cover screen is a great size to do "phone" tasks and when I need more screen real estate or will be looking at my phone for longer than a couple of minutes. When that happens I can then enjoy the app using the bigger screen or I can easily multitask in ways that the Duo 2 is more limited. I have many times 3 windows open on the Fold 4 which I can not do or would be a more limited exeprience. on the Duo 2.
You may have to think more to multitask on the Fold, but Samsung makes that very easy with all of the different options. With that being said, if you own a V60, Duo, or Fold device, you are a different kind of user and we all have something in common in what we want from our phones.

I don't know I think they supported the duo 1 pretty well. They did patches and security updates almost monthly. It did take them 3 months or so to get the phone stable. And then it probably took another 5 months to get android 11 on it and that's when things really started to improve and right around that time the 2 launched and no one really cared about the 1 anymore. But the Duo 1 is an entirely decent device. I really purchased one used for just a stupid good price ($80 us) and am super impressed with it. Yes the touch function sometimes is wonky. But it works really well with a pen, and it runs pretty quick. I like the flat form factor of not having the camera bump. I wish it wasn't glass all over. I think a soft touch plastic backing would have been great for this type of device. It would have been lighter, less prone to breaks (There are broken back surfaces all over ebay) and they didn't include wireless charging anyway so there's no reason it needed to be glass or ceramic. I get that people think of glass as "premium" now but I hate it myself. We had gotten to a point where flagship phones all had really nice aluminum unibodies and they looked great and held up well and now we're getting all these glass devices that get smashed, and fingerprint like crazy and look terrible after a couple minutes of use.

Great content. I wish samsung would make a fold with gorilla glass and when you open it the two pieces of screen would come together and lock in using the hinge. Then when you close the hinge will release them. Just think when the lock in together no seam down the center.

I definitely agree with your point regarding new phones released every year. Smartphone makers should stop doing that and instead they should just focus on improving the software experience of their existing products.

Smartphones nowadays have became bland, upgrading every year is just pointless.

In your description you say it rivals the Surface Duo 4. I think you mean the Samsung Fold 4. Would love to see a video comparing them both.

Here's a thought. Duo 3= 3 screens. Front screen so you don't have to open it to read messages and do basic stuff. 2 more screens when you unfold it. Id buy that in a heartbeat

Yup, would love that comparison. I had an original Duo and now have a Fold 4.

I love the idea of the Duo. I use a Surface Pro 7 and docking station for my desktop. But it has the same problem as Windows Phone, which I also liked and owned - no apps for something I would carry around.

Hopefully the additional support helps this device

Has anyone here ever seen the interview Panos did on Duo 1 on Unbox Therapy? Where the thought behind the device as a whole, (crappy) camera and no outside screen (!) was explained? We all ask for things in Duo that are actually not part of the desigh ideas of Duo in the first place. And actually for good reason, as it's not a phone to begin with.
