I decided that I couldn't talk about Michael Faraday without giving a brief explanation of the Faraday Cage as well.

The Faraday Cage stops electricity and electromagnetic frequencies from entering the cage, affectivly insulating any object inside from electricity.

Applications range from Airplanes, to science laboratories, to microwaves. Faraday Cages are everywhere!

Very good explanation of the Faraday Cage and the earlier video about Michael Faraday. The script flowed very well hitting the main points without becoming dull. You would make a good teacher.

Basically wanted to revisit the topic because I was stuck in a bad thunderstorm while driving my completely stripped interior track car. Basically my feet are on a bare metal floor and my elbow sometimes touches the bare metal door. I knew that Faraday cages redirected the current, but wasn’t sure if it counted with bare metal! Thanks for the breakdown.

Great video. Direction of propagation is reversed in the EM wave figure. It goes in the direction of E cross B, which would be to the lower left instead of upper right. It's easy to mix something like that up in a video with so many great animations.

Exactly the 101 i was looking for. Thank you. I would have apriciated more detail about "the amount of power you want to disapate" but that in mind, 9/10. 👍

I have a question. I get that the Farady keeps electricty from getting to the inside or to the outside of the cage depending on where it originates from. But does the em field change shape to the extent that something powerful enough might not send electricity outside of the cage, but it still might bend space? And vice versa?

Would a large completely enclosed box, made from galvanized steel cattle panels, with 6 x 8 inch holes be sufficient to protect against a strong solar flare, or an Emp attack?

Similar panels are also made with 4 x 4 holes, but they are much more expensive. Any information you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Does a Faraday cage have to be grounded to stop radio/telecomunication waves?
