NEW Nvidia APP allows easy 1 click overclocking but is it worth it
Today we are taking a look at the new BETA APP from Nvidia, this is a sort of modern replacement for the Geforce Experience with a lot of the features replicated and slightly modernised.
My interest is in the easy 1 click automatic overclocking feature.
I'll be honest i'm not really expecting much, but every little extra bit of FREE performance is welcome, especially as there is no need for any overclocking knowledge whatsoever.
Also taking a brief tour of the NEW Nvidia App and seeing what it has to offer.

One thing to point out about the app is that Automatic tuning OC are only supported on GeForce GTX 16 series and RTX 20 series or greater GPUs. A good option which is mentioned in the vide would be MSI Afterburner for those who don't have a supported GPU.

For those who aren't aware: VRAM Tuning for everyone is set at a hard +200 Mhz. Only GPU tuning varies from person to person depending on their hardware.

Wonder how much further manual tuning would get, but I guess for 20 minutes it's stress testing to ensure a stable overclock - I'd guess on stock voltage.
Of course the other paradox, if it's cooling or power limited, then a touch of undervolting can maintain higher clocks, when normally you think of overclocking as needing more voltage

if i remember right it's more than 15 years ago. since i did tune anything in a Pc.
Thank you very much for showing how easy it is to do now 😀

It's clear that this overclocking app is so conservative that it would be impossible to void your warranty. Kinda ok to click and get an extra frame or two, but in general pretty pointless imo.

its a shame that Nvidia app reviews show about a 10% reduced fps in games over installing the driver alone. Clearly Nvidia still has some work to do on this beta product. But its great to see Nvidia finally updating their softwares GUI after decades of stagnation :D

Seems like a direct pull from the GeForce experience tuning function. That also gave me +86mhz on the core clock for the 3060 and 3070!

Remember year or 2 ago everyone hated mining because memory overclocking was bad for GPU.
Fast forward memory overclocking done by manufacturer and all good, nothing will happen in longer run.😊

Back off making it so easy to overclock ! 🙂 Interesting that both nVidia and AMD are both actively encouraging overclocking wasnt that long ago when this sort of behaviour could potentially invalidate a warranty ! I mean its canny that they are making it easy but as you proved in your video the benefits are quite often minimal. Thanks for sharing, Mike and Kath 🙂

Do you need to remove the old GForce experience software.

I use GPU TWEAK III personally, but if I didn't I'd give this a look.

After restarting the pc and even it toggled on it back to 0 mhz again it needs to scan everday before play games? 😢😢

in the nvidia app automatic tuning, is it okay for it to enable 24/7?

whenever i restart my computer, the overclock settings are changing into 0.0 mhz and i have to do the overclock every single time again. how do i fix it?

I believe you can also undervolt by just reducing the Power Maximum or the Voltage Maximum, but not sure which one. Any ideas?

Would be much more useful if it could provide a stable undervolt instead of overclock imo

Is this the new app supposed to replace both Nvidia Experience and the Nvidia control panel?

It's actually better then factory OC. Get the none OC versions and boom even OC the memory. Not crazy amounts but as good with clocks and better everywhere else.

Before you press auto! Raise the temps and the power all the way then click auto. Leave voltage alone of course.

If it doesn't work keep trying to click auto and it will go through.

86 on clocks on a 4060 isn't to bad tbh it's better then most factory oc at 70mhz so that's a W can't expect to much from a 4060 man. Got much less vrm's.

Also factory OC doesnt raise watts or ram so it's another bonus.

It's never gonna be massive it's safe and it's why it doesn't brake warranty. But any boost is a nice boost. Extra is extra! Lol

You do get much better results on something like a strix 4080 super. I know because I have one.

Went from 2680 none OC edition to 2875.

You got 200 points more btw not 100 more in the benchmark. The when you raised the power it went up by 300. 25 minutes of your life even on a 4060 makes that worth it imo.

And then you got a nicer improvement in the next ones.

3 to 5 fps is 3 to 5 fps!
